I'm a fiction and comics writer, who was born in Jersey, grew up in Georgia, went to college in Indiana, and grad. school outside D.C., and I'm still there. I earned a BFA and an MFA in creative writing. In addition to working on novels, I got back into comics around 2002 after about a decade off, and my childhood daydreams of writing comics have become more realistic at least in terms of getting something on the page. I've also got a blog called One Toe In, which features commentary on comics, TV, music, books, and writing.

Also, I'm actively looking to collaborate with artists. I have two projects with scripts, which you can read about in my Looking for Artists bulletin. They sort of fall into the crime genre, but I'm interested in other genres and would certainly consider working on other projects. I have a good ear for dialogue and a strong sense of character.

Some comics influences: Ed Brubaker, Brian Bendis, Mark Waid, Kurt Busiek, Greg Rucka, 1980s Chris Claremont, some Grant Morrison.

Some literary influences: Michael Chabon, Richard Russo, George Pelecanos, Flannery O'Connor, F. Scott Fitzgerald, that Shakespeare fellow, a dash of Steinbeck, a hint of Hemingway, a smidge of Robert B. Parker.

Other influences: Star Wars, The Wire, Joss Whedon, Bruce Springsteen, The Beatles, Billy Wilder, John Sayles, Martin Scorsese.
