mzjoe
Writer, artist, publisher of Megazeen, an offbeat Christian anthology zine. Most recent book was the MEGAZEEN of HORROR, our twelfth regular issue. http://www.megazeenonline.comBest known lately for comics where eyes get gauged out. Other credits include the Comics Jam War, Hero TV, Cross Press Comics, Johnny Crouton, How NOT to Make a Christian Comic, Colossians and other covers n stuff. The icon above is a partial cover for Colossians, which is kind of a Christian space opera that I've been slowly working on since I was about 13 and is darn near complete at long last. In the meantime, the shorts I do in Megazeen keep me plenty busy. I'm mainly about discipling artists to use their gifts for God, and giving them a forum (Megazeen) where they can see print. We've seen some amazing talent emerge from that little book, some of which have gone on to professional level work. We now have artists from all over the world contribute to the book on a quarterly basis. Megazeen is NOT your traditional Christian comic by a long shot. We're not preachy and hardly reverant. We push entertainment and edge, knowing that a message will fall flat if we can't present it in a new way. Little gospel here, little fart joke there, you get the drift. Personally, I don't make my bread and butter doing this. I have a "real" job that pays the bills, so this just stays fun. Oh, and I also help distribute Christian comics by other creators, as well as host a forum, gallery and chat room at http://www.christiancomics.net

These are the amazing covers of Megazeen. I have yet to do a cover myself, since we've got all these great artists doing them for us.

I thought that Manx Character looked Familiar and there she is on Comicspace. Now which one of those fellows is Blam? This Colossians book sounds really good. I can't wait to see some pics. |

There are other Christian creators in comics other than Terry Moore, John Gallagher, Scott McDaniel, and myself? There may still be hope for this industry. :) |

Christian comics without the cheese. Fascinating. A great way to put it.
Mmmm cheese. I'll eat all the cheese Christian comics has to offer if the beef's in the art & story!
All the best to you Joe!

Yay for Megazine getting Bronze and Ben Avery getting Gold!
FYI the team that took silver came from the local comic shop here in Fredericton! |
