Hi, my name is Eric Nolen-Weathington, and I am the editor/designer of the Modern Masters book series from TwoMorrows Publishing (http://www.twomorrows.com). If you're not familiar with the books, or if there are some you haven't seen, I encourage you to look through the preview pages in my gallery. I think you'll like what you see.

Well, it's been quite some time since I last updated here. I've had three (!) Modern Masters books come out since then, featuring Mike Allred, Lee Weeks, and John Romita, Jr. — I'll try to get samples posted soon, but don't hold your breath, I'm still swamped with work. In the meantime, you can hear me along with Lee Weeks and Tom Field (my co-author on Modern Masters Vol. 17: Lee Weeks) on the CGS podcast. Check it out! Even though I sound like a babbling idiot here and there, Lee makes it worth the effort.

Coming up I'll be at the Baltimore Comic-Con trying to sell the Nick Cardy: Behind the Art book, which will be out just in time for the show. It's a full-color, hardcover book, and it's just Nick talking about his favorite pieces from throughout his career — and I'm talking not just comics, but portraits, commercial art, movie posters, and paintings, too! There's a ton of preliminary work as Nick explains some of the thought process that went into each piece. We spent a lot of time on this book, and I hope everyone at least gives it a look-through.

And if you like thoughtful reviews of comics and science-fiction (and a few films to boot), check out the blog of my good friend and co-author of Modern Masters Vol. 15: Mark Schultz, Fred Perry (no, he's not the manga guy), at http://www.perrynomasia.blogspot.com/.

The Modern Masters books are some of the most entertaining, enlightening, and enjoyable pieces of comics journalism I've read. Keep up the great work! (And look for my review of the Kevin Maguire edition in Tuesday's column.)

Thanks, Augie! And thanks for the kind words you've given the books over the years. I look forward to reading what you have to say about the Maguire book.
