Hi, my name is Eric Nolen-Weathington, and I am the editor/designer of the Modern Masters book series from TwoMorrows Publishing (http://www.twomorrows.com). If you're not familiar with the books, or if there are some you haven't seen, I encourage you to look through the preview pages in my gallery. I think you'll like what you see.

Modern Masters Vol. 15: Mark Schultz is in stores now! Mark doesn't do a lot of comic art these days, so if you're not familiar with his work do yourself a favor and check this book out. Modern Masters Vol. 16: Mike Allred should be out in March as advertised. And in case you haven’t heard, volumes 17 and 18 are on Lee Weeks and John Romita, Jr., respectively! I should be able to announce three more books next month, so stay tuned.

Something else I’m excited about is my first non-Modern Masters book, due out next June: Nick Cardy: Behind the Art! Like the title suggests, it's an art book exploring the career of the one-and-only Nick Cardy. What makes this book really special is the commentary and preliminary work that accompanies the finished pieces. And it’s not just comics, either. There are also portraits, oil paintings, commercial art, and movie posters Nick has done over the years. If you’re a fan of Nick’s work, or just interested in the thought process and techniques of a professional artist, you really need to check this one out. Did I mention it’s a full-color hardcover? Well, it is.

And if you like thoughtful reviews of comics and science-fiction (and a few films to boot), check out the blog of my good friend and co-author of Modern Masters Vol. 15: Mark Schultz, Fred Perry (no, he's not the manga guy), at http://www.perrynomasia.blogspot.com/.

The Modern Masters books are some of the most entertaining, enlightening, and enjoyable pieces of comics journalism I've read. Keep up the great work! (And look for my review of the Kevin Maguire edition in Tuesday's column.)

Thanks, Augie! And thanks for the kind words you've given the books over the years. I look forward to reading what you have to say about the Maguire book.
