Hey, my name's Shawn. I've been a comic book fan and reader since I was old enough to remember. Since then I've been checking out comic inspired movies, tv shows, and any other goodies the industry can cook up to keep me geeking out. Besides those things, I like to draw and write my own stories, sometimes involving already established characters and sometimes using original ideas or working with friends on their own original ideas.

I'm a Superman fan. Have been since I was old enough to remember looking at Superman in the comics and thought he was the coolest of all the other heroes. Because of my love for the character, I'm also a Christopher Reeve fan. Yes, he made me believe a man could fly but he also made me believe that a man can really be worthy of admiration.

Another character I love is Green Arrow because he is the polar extreme in a few ways to Superman. He's human and stubborn and his own worst enemy, something that I enjoy because I don't like my heroes to be overly perfect. He's also outspoken and liberal and has that old school Errol Flynn/old Hollywood feel about him that I appreciate, plus it doesn't hurt that he has a way with the ladies. As I'm getting older, I am getting a new found respect for the human characters, like Ollie, because they're on a limited timeline to accomplish goals, plus they could get hurt or die trying to do the right thing, yet they still do it. That's my definition of a hero most times, so I love seeing characters like Ollie in action.

Now, from the other side of the pond, I'm a Daredevil fan. You want to talk flaws, Matt Murdock's get them in spades. But he's also a fighter and he never gives up. There are days that I feel like giving up and then I get that second wind somehow, just like Matt does, so I love that about his character. He also has one of the worst track records with relationships, something that I love since the hero doesn't always get the girl at the end of the day in reality. Plus, I'm still a sucker for someone saying "he's a blind superhero that uses sonar and enhanced senses to fight crime" and I STILL love that premise.

The other two heroes from Marvel that I love are Spider-Man and Colossus from X-Men. Always loved how Peter Parker has all the everyday problems of growing up to paying rent and still has to deal with his enemies and other drama on top of it all. Yet, somehow, he still has a quip or two to spout off at the end of the day while fighting some baddie. Colossus I've always loved on the premise of his power being just freakin' cool (if I had that power, I'd probably stay metal all the time!), yet he is a gentle soul who is an artist. When I was a kid reading X-Men, it was just cool to see one of them drawing, just like I did.

Anyway, if you want to know more or just get in touch, shoot me an email at sskvarna@aol.com.
