| Bulletin: | It was suggested I post the reply I got from 2000ad editor Matt Smith with regards to my recent 2000ad submission "Dwellers in the Depths". I guess by way of helpful pointers to anyone else hoping to submit in the near future. I'd like to state for the record that I thought the criticisms fair and plan to sumbmit again whenever I can. " ..The first thing that strikes me about them is that you've left very little room for dialogue especially on page one. Always think about balloon placement. The story flows OK, but some of your figure drawing is a touch stiff (see the guy getting bitten in the last panel of page five)- the page layouts as a whole could do with some loosening up and I think the characters could be a little more dynamic." The letter ended with some encouraging suggestions I might want to keep submitting as there was potential. Hope this is of use to someone. |
