Patrick Gerard is a lifelong comic book enthusiast, nearing completion on his degree in Theatre (with a minor in English) from Berry College, U.S. News & World Report's #2 undergraduate comprehensive college in the southern U.S.
Patrick has performed live alongside actors with featured performances in such classics as In the Heat of the Night and The Legend of Bagger Vance. He specializes in Shakespearian character roles, voice over and narration. His unofficial concentration, however, is in the area of dramatic criticism. With regards to comics, he was a letter hack circa the turn of the century, winning two of the "Baldy" letter column awards in the Superman family of comics as well as having letters published in Alan Moore's Supreme. He has been solicited to pitch at Crossgen, DC Comics, Marvel and Mirage Studios; his only credit in a major industry publication to date was a "Special Thanks" in the pages of Superman vol. 2 #178. He has also worked on pitches with several notable artists such as Ferro City's Jason Armstrong. He has conducted and arranged interviews with several industry professionals including Geoff Johns, Jeph Loeb and John Ostrander for Superman: Through the Ages the late DC Fanzing. Outside the comics industry, he has written several freelance newspaper articles and editorials as well as having short fiction published in the literary magazine Ramifications. In 2006, he self-published an ashcan for a proposed series Inlaws and Outlaws. The project featured a cover by Pierre Villeneuve and interior art by industry veteran Lou Manna (The Phantom, Young All-Stars). Jeph Loeb once wrote of Patrick: "Someday, I expect he'll be doing the job that I was doing when he replaced me." My Myspace Profile |
