pauljohnlittle
Greetings! I'm a part-time artist based out of Niagara Falls, Ontario, and I work on comics, mainly as a colorist.
I've been the colorist for Shadowline/Image Comics' Bomb Queen for over a dozen issues, and I've also worked on such titles as Dynamo 5 and The Matriarch. I've had pin-ups appear in comics like Invincible and Superpatriot, and I've done a tiny bit of illustration work for music magazines and the like. I've also colored several original graphic novels and independent comics for publishers ranging from Image to Arcana to Outlaw Entertainment, and have provided covers for some of these outfits as well.
Some of my favourite folks in comics are (more or less in order) Will Eisner, Chris Ware, Craig Thompson, Joe Sacco, Dan Clowes, Alan Moore, Mike Mignola, Adrian Tomine, Brian K. Vaughan, Jason Lutes, Rick Leonardi, Joe Kubert, Todd Klein, John Romita Jr., Derek Kirk Kim, Seth, Chester Brown, Alex Toth, Steve Rude, Tony Harris and Cory Walker.
My favourite colorists, more or less in order, are Dave Stewart, Laura Martin, Gabe Eltaeb, John Rauch, Matt Hollingsworth and Nathan Fairbairn. I find myself quite unable to read comics these guys are involved with; I can only study them and try to be a good student.
Selected bibliography:
Bomb Queen IV #1-4 (Shadowline/Image Comics): colorist
Bomb Queen: The Divine Comedy #1-6 (Shadowline/Image Comics): colorist
Bomb Queen VI #1-present (Shadowline/Image Comics): colorist
Dynamo 5 #18 (Image Comics): colorist, backup feature, "Dodge's Bullets"
Dynamo 5 #25 (Image Comics): colorist
Planet Zoo original graphic novel (Outlaw Entertainment): colorist
The Mustache Bandits original graphic novel (Outlaw Entertainment): colorist
The Matriarch original graphic novel (Arcana): colorist
Sovena Red #0 (independent): colorist
Lava-Roid #1 (Viva La Flarb! Comics): colorist
ICE: Interrogation Control Element (Zuda Comics): colorist
Tiffany's Epiphany (Silverline/Image Comics): colorist
Downhill from Here #1-2 (Low Key Comics): designer, colorist, artist
Covers, pin-ups, etc.
Killer Diller #1-3 (Outlaw Entertainment): cover inks, colors
Drawing from Life #2 (Shadowline/Image Comics): cover colors
Invincible #26 (Image Comics): pin-up art
Superpatriot: America's Fighting Force #3 (Image Comics): pin-up colors

Colors
This is what I'm concentrating on these days, almost exclusively. Art is by others, colours are by me.
|
 |
My Art
Some of my own art, from top to bottom, for better or worse. I very rarely draw anymore, since I'm so busy with work (day job) and coloring assignments (which swallows up almost as much time, believe it or not). I am very, very tired most weeks.
|
 |
Sonics
I've wanted to illustrate whole songs in comics form for some time, but I became discouraged when I saw that somebody had beaten me to the song that inspired the idea, Bob Dylan's "Isis." But lately I've been easing back into the idea.

Why you're not doing your own book is a mystery to me. Your work is excellent. 1 Reply [ Latest posted on July 12th, 2007 11:23 PM ]

Thanks, man. Now that I'm getting used to the pace on BQ, I think I'm going to start finding time to work up some more of the pitch I've got on the table - most of the superhero drawings in my non sequential gallery are related to that concept. Sean, the writer, and I really think it has potential, and I'm really growing attached to the characters. We'll see if anybody thinks it's worth publishing in a few months, I guess. |

I knew someone was talking about me, I could just feel it! :P I love your version of Editor Girl, it does indeed rock, as does the rest of your artwork! Absolutely love it. |

Yo dude, you should put up your "top 10 superheroes" pics on here as a gallery. Of course, it'd be REALLY awesome if you inked/colored them, but I know that's asking a lot....heh.
Also, did you see Kris Simon put your Editor Girl pic up on her ComicSpace page? You should go link your shit there (I would but I don't want to be presumptuous).

Hey hey! Yeah, the plan is to upload them here and over on the currently dead LKC site (not that I seem to be able to post there at all this week) once I finish all ten. I'm dragging my arse on finishing Dr. Manhattan, but I'm hoping to finish him and Batman by tomorrow night to make up for lost time (oh no - spoilers). I might ink and colour a few of 'em, but Sean and I are cooking up a top secret project that's taking precedence over everything but the DFH #2 colours right now. |

No prob! If your gallery is any indication, I can't wait to see some sequential stuff from you. I actually followed a link to your blog from DA or PencilJack or some other such site a couple months back. Great work. |
