My 2 Cents:
Civil War! Ok, so it was no huge surprise that Spidey was going to flip back to Cap's side after realizing that Stark was a fascist. But you gotta love Babylon 5 guy's (get an easier to spell last name and I'll cite you properly JM) excellent speachification via Spiderman, on all that's wrong with our current Patriot Act-era government. Even the NY Times got in on that action. Kudos to making comics relevant again in addition to pure time-wasting enjoyment. Comics Blogroll I have to admit I just started reading comic related blogs, so there aren't many here yet. You'll notice these are female-authored blogs. Not for any particular reason or to make a statement, but because they are interesting. I'd rather read about feminist implications of comics any day than wade through another 1000 articles on how lame or cool the Iron Spider suit is or is not, or whether Captain America could beat Batman in a fist fight without shields or gadgets. There are legitimate insights here: Pretty, Frizzie, Paradise: http://kalinara.blogspot.com/ When Fangirls Attack: http://womenincomics.blogspot.com/ Fanboy Musings: Just because I can't resist weighing in somehting I mentioned above as a total joke, but that I know will be an issue of serious contention to many here: Bruce Wayne can't beat Steve Rogers in a fight based on combat skills alone like a fist fight. I like Bats way more than Cap, but lets be honest here. A Super Soldier Serum enhanced combat veteran against an Olympic class athlete in peak human condition is still a superhuman versus a human. However, if we allow the contest to be somehting where planning, strategy, and technology could come into play, I think Batman takes it hands down every time, even with the shield to overcome. |
