Header: I'm back from BOTCON 2007!!!
Bulletin:

Day One: Wednesday
So much to write, where to begin… My train ride to Providence Rhode went well. The only strange thing was whenever I called Jamie; his phone would answer back with weird alien music. We hung out for the whole afternoon waiting for Robbie and Josh. They later showed up at 8pm, later we went for dinner at Unoes Pizzeria. Other then a tip to the very nice waitress, Robbie drew a TF on a napkin for her. At the end of the day, we showed each other our portfolios and stuff and watched King Kong. It was cool to meet people for the first time that you've only known threw the net.

Day Two: Thursday
Robbie lost his luggage so we went to the mall to buy some clothes. In the mall we bumped into Bryan owner of seibertron.com and crew. Later we met Nick Roche (Spotlight Hot Rod and Kup) and his friends. After a chat and lunch, we went to the BotCon to pick up our registration packages. Among all the stuff I was given, I was shocked to have two passes to the Hasbro tour; I was told months ago that I wasn't on the list. So I was very happy and surprised that I will be going to the tour. Later we met Chirs Ryall and Dan Taylor (IDW) as well as Marcelo Matere (Spotlight Soundwave) and we all went to see the Transformer movie together. Man it was surreal to be sitting with the people I want to work with/for, then later have Rachael Taylor and Tyrese Gibson open the movie for us. The movie was awesome on SO many levels. Go see it, go see it twice, probably the best "feel good movie" I've seen in a long time. After that, we hung out with Bryan for a bit, I drank a bottle of something that literally tasted like acid to me. XP

Day Three: Friday
Nick, Jamie, Robby, Josh myself, along with Drange, Heatherbeast and so many other people I've only known threw online met up and went to the Hasbro Tour. There was so much neat stuff to see and the people behind it were so cool and kind. After going threw the tour I now have a new found respect on the toy-line I love. After that, my IDW friends went off to work in the booth. So I spent the rest of the afternoon taking pictures, buying toys, and getting autographs. It shocked me when random people would pull my arm to say "Oh my gawd you're Robert Shum we chat online allot." My gawd it was shocking. Later, Robbie, Josh, Nick were invited by Chris and Dan to dinner at "Dave and Busters." So I tagged along and got to meet guys like Jim and Bill who were responsible for the TF restoration book and Alex Miline (Megatron Origin). Later after a great Philly Cheese Steak we all went to the arcade and got our game on.

Day Four: Saturday
I waited the entire morning to get a Peter Cullen autograph signing only to get a ticket for an afternoon signing with him. That dude was freaking awesome!!! Other then taking pictures and hanging out with people like Rose, Tony, Casey, Krystal, Dave and James we later went to a party in where Stan Bush was performing. Man I threw my voice out from all the screaming. The concert freakin rawked!!! It was like return of the 80's. I took a lot of great pictures that day. After the concert we all went to the bar to sit and let the awesomeness of this entire weekend set. Sadly Jamie had to go home, so it was only the three of us from then on. :(

Day five: Sunday
Sign… it was almost over. I went to the Hasbro panel in where the company discussed the future of Transformers. We saw new movie toys like the Sector 7 van, Qatar Copter and so much more. They explained what we will see in the new series TF: Animated along with the toyline that would go along with it. From what I saw I liked and am looking forward to it. Probably the biggest shocker was the continuation of TF: Classics now renamed TF: Universe. They plan to release Sideswipe, Sunstreaker, Octane, Ironhide and Galvatron; a design made just for Galvatron, not a Megs repaint. After the panel I separated with my friends again and I went to tie up some loose ends. I bumped into some friends I wanted to meet and had some aryist do some sketches for me. I went to the Sector 7 trailer to see the Scorponok fight, the Sector 7 agent's role play and got to meet Frenzy. After that I took pictures with the Op truck. In the end after a great dinner at the Cheesecake Factory, Josh, Robbie, Nick, Annemarie and I spent a quiet night at the pub with the guys from Siebertron.com and Unicron.com.

Day Six: Monday
It was tuff to pack our stuff back into our suitcases and it was sad to see this all over, but it had to be done. As much as I didn't want to leave, I wanted to go home just as bad. The night before I tried my best to tie up some loose ends like making gift art for friends and taking pictures that are vital to a project I'm planning. I said my last good byes to Josh and Robbie and spent the day looking around the city, only to go back home by train.

The Botcon Signed Unicron, Class of 2007

During the BotCon weekend I ran around having people sign my Unicorn toy… ranging from Celebes, people I bumped into out of the blue and good friends. I took some silly pictures of people beating me up and looking silly as well as some pictures for my next photo comic. I met people I thought I would never meet before. I was caught on video singing the "The Touch."

BOTCON VIDEO

I hung out with guys who admin the websites I go to. I chatted with comic artist I want to work with/for. I met the people behind the Hasbro Toy company as well as the celebrities of the fandom; I even took some silly photos with these guys too. I got to see artist I admired and respect in action; which gave me a better idea on how to improve my own craft. Robbie said it best, this experience is the most surreal yet amazing experience we've ever had. Each day gave me nothing but great memories.

Finale thoughts:
I bought stuff I never thought possible. Like Wyverion at a decent price; I've been looking for him for years. With him I can make Super Gradion. I got other things like the Exclusive Sideswipe; the missing element for my Lieger kitbash. World's smallest Thrust and Reissue Dirge; my personal seeker collection is almost complete. The Old-Universe Ironhide who's repaint is reminiscent to G1 Trailbreaker at a dam good price to boot. Lastly I scored 600 dollars in store credit in Bigbadtoystore.com.

My biggest regrets, I missed the IDW panel and the Panel with Peter Cullen. Plus I wanted to see the G1 Movie with the MST3K audio. I wish I got some sketches made by my fav artist's and wish I saw the HOW TO DRAW CLASSICS hour. Other then that, nothing but good times.

At home, Tuesday night I got to see the TF movie again with the NYjedi. After seeing it a second time I want to go see it again, with my mother this time around.
