| Bulletin: | another action idea here: A comic book/graphic novel drive. Collecting comics & graphic novels from: local comic retailers and book stores (can even ask them to participate and collect comics from customers) and ourselves. Donate these comics and graphic novels to either local schools or local libraries - or somewhere else if someone has another idea. I know my community has a Literacy Council -- a group that helps teach people to read - an an organization like that would also be a good target for these, as comics are often less threatening to people who can't read than regular books are. Since it is also convention season, people could even ask publishers there if they have any overstock they'd like to donate to the cause. We'd start soon and go through August, donating the books after Labor Day (September 4th and later). Please share what you think of this idea and weather or not you would participate. |
