"BLACK AGE XII" convention and the Rhythmistic Arts Festival will take place in Chicago Oct. 9th & 10th at the Kenwood Academy located at 5015 south Blackstone in Chicago IL. It is located within a five minute walk to the home of the Obamas. This 'hood is the birthplace of the Black Age of Comics movement which now boasts of four annual events around the nation. The original one in Chicago from Onli Studios, ECBACC in Phillie, The Detroit Motor City Black Age of Comics Convention, and ONYX CON in Atlanta. For more details check out www.dablackage.blogspot.com and www.onlistudios.com .

"NOG:THE PROTECTOR OF THE PYRAMIDES" will celebrate its 30th anniversary next year. Look for the decisive 96 page full color graphic novel and soundtrack from Hardy Headz called "NOG: THE WAR FOR PLANET NUBA!!!" NOG was created and published by ONLI STUDIOS during the great Black & White" boom that gave us TMNT and so much indie products. To get some insight into the ONLI UNIVERSE you should get a copy of TEAM BLANGA from www.comixpress.com . Team BLANGA comes with an original CD soundtrack and reprises the "NOG IS BACK!!!" story in its full form. Plus the origins of Malcolm-10 and Sustah-Girl, The Queen of the Black Age are included in this 96 page graphic novel. I will be teaming up with the very talented Christian St. Pierre to generate even more Rhythmic illustrations for the new "NOG" books. You can follow the progress of this truly indie cosmic hero at (url)www.nogtheprotector.blogspot.com (/url).

BLACK = Independent creativity!!!

When I am not teaching at the Kenwood Academy High School, Coaching sports, or teaching at the Harold Washington College in Chicago I am into the whole ONLI UNIVERSE building thing!!!!!

You can get my comic books or graphic novels such as Future Funk 'zine for the Black Age, Team Blanga, No Evils, or Let's Go Green In Da City from www.comixpress.com. They are so urbane, so hip, so new, so you. I dig innovative creators like Mobius, Ashley A. Woods, Jack Kirby, Cassandra Washington, and Dwayne McDuffie. In the Spring of 2009 I re-introduced the Future-Funk fanzine and the "No Evils" studio portfolio book. See the Graphic Novels Page at www.onlistudios.com

I lived and worked in Paris during the Bande Dessinee boom that created Metal Hurlant and Heavy Metal. I even illustrated an album cover for the Rolling Stones that didn't pass censorship. I am still looking for a band with the backbone to use it.

Recent high points were being included in the "Other Heroes" exhibition and book along with being featured in the touring "Out of Sequence" shows curated by Damian Duffy and John Jennings of Eye Trauma fame. I feel loved and lucky ofr this op.

I am so excited that our industry is enjoying its expansion by embracing creative works that show styles, stories, concepts that are derived from a indie, Black or African perspective and promotes independent creativity. This and the overall growing global-multiculturalism is bringing our industry to a level long enjoyed by the music industry. The graphitti tag I use was created by one of my students. Her name is Jennifer Hitt. It says "Da Black Age". BOOM!!! ONLI STUIDOS is pushing indie-creativity to da max!!

In May of 2006 I received a Lifetime Achievement / Pioneer Award at the East Coast Black Age of Comics Convention at Temple University at Philadelphia PA. Over a 15 year period I have presented ten annual Black Age Conventions in Chicago. Believe me, this movement is the next big thing!!! Join the milita. Check us out at www.dablackage.blogspot.com.

OK. I gotta get back to work..... ZOOOMMM!!!

Turtel!!! Hey, thanks alot for the add . I am very happy that I have been included to your growing roster of friends . I hope another Black age of Comics is going on this year? You know I will attend for sure . Well, Hope all is well . I wanted to attend your art exhibit at the U.I.C. But I work second shift and my boss wouldn't let me go . That sucks because all I had to do was get on a shuttle bus and zoom over to the building you were at and then zoom back to the building I work in . I was on the other side of campus from where your exhibit was taking place!! Oh, well, I'm sure you will have more exhibits in the very near future right? Well, I have to go . See you in March for the Inter-fan Jam .

Nino.

Hi Turtel,

Thanks much for the add! Checked out the Dablackage blog. Loved It!! These are the kind of books I've been looking for! It's really great your helping to put a spotlight on books that would otherwise be under-served.

Definitely hope to make your Chicago convention in October. Get back to me and let me know if you'll be doing the New York con, this February. Maybe we can meet up and network. Keep up the great work!

brotha onli!!!! the one and the only! WOW.. what an honor, that you not only added me to your team, but you dropped some inspiring comments on my artwork!(THANK YOU!)yea, much love right back to you! you have a long history in this industry, and you no doubt have many more milestones to conquer before you're through!@
ironicly, i ALSO teach! i'm an art teacher(7th and 8th grade), but i also have a degree in english(which i also teach)..i consider this the FRONT LINE of action! its a blessed challenge! i have my market right in front of me, telling me what they like and dislike, and what the next big thing is...(^_^)i'm still freelancing, but thats about to wrap up, because i am going to UNLEASH my new projects on the world this year!!(heh!) its all about the self-published effort in 07 for me...
hey, keep the dialogue flowing family...it was great to talk with you!
