Rafael_Kayanan
Hello, I've uploaded some of my illustrations. They are in various mediums: digital, pen and ink, pencil. My work has been published by Marvel, DC, Vertigo, Acclaim, Image and Dark Horse. Upcoming work will be adapting "THE DARK MIRROR" originally written by R. A. Salvatore for Devil's Due Publishing's WORLD OF DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS issue 1 and 2. Created Topps artist sketch cards for LORD OF THE RINGS and STAR WARS 30th Anniversary cards. Released this year is the The Blood-Stained Crown and Other Stories CONAN tpb reprinting issue 39 from Dark Horse Comics and features a story written by Kurt Busiek accompanied by my digital color and ink art. My other work has been providing storyboards, concept work and fight choreography for film. A recent film project was for Paramount's JOHN CARTER of MARS as part of director Kerry Conran's pre-viz crew. Recent work as an illustrator for the SPIDER-MAN Broadway show directed by Julie Taymor. Thanks for adding me! Loved your latest work on Conan - and still remember your work on Turok back in the Acclaim days. Man, that was great stuff!
All the best! |

Saw the preview pages of your new Conan work -- Great stuff, Rafael! -- and very different from your earlier Conan work. There aren't any comics shops around here, but I'll be tracking down your issue(s?) during conventions.
Your Dante gallery is fascinating. Trying to give Dore some competition? |

Rafael! Good to see you on here, man!
Hey, will we be seeing you at the New York Con next week?
Oh, and post larger images of your art. I want to see those pretty details. ;o)

Thanks Ray - I won't make this year's NYCC due to other commitments. I got my Javits fix this week with Toy Fair (and the snow storm) so perhaps I'll switch it around for next year. |
