Header: CLEBURNE wins the 2008 Xeric Award!
Bulletin: Some stories have yet to be told.

“Unlike other comic books CLEBURNE is not a work of pure fiction,” writes author Justin Murphy, “it is based on true historical figures and events. It deals with real issues of race, government, war and the American experience. These issues are still being dealt with in our society today, and in my opinion that makes CLEBURNE more socially relevant and important than anything else comic publishers are producing.”

Maybe that’s why CLEBURNE has been honored with the 2008 Xeric Award. The Xeric Foundation was founded by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles creator Peter Laird, and conducts a highly selective and competitive process when reviewing all applicants. Submissions are judged on literary and artistic merit as well as originality. Additional press releases will be sent to media outlets all throughout the comic book industry.

The creative team for CLEBURNE includes author & artist Justin Murphy (a 2006 award winning playwright at the New York International Fringe Festival), inker Al Milgrom (a Marvel Comics veteran for books like The Incredible Hulk & X Factor), and colorist J. Brown (Marvel Comic’s Civil War & Captain America).

CLEBURNE (ISBN: 978-0-9799579-0-1) is a 200 page, full color graphic novel priced at $24.95. It ships in November from Rampart Press, and will be available at comic shops, bookstores through Baker & Taylor, and online at: www.rampartpress.com.
