| Bulletin: | I'm excited to say that I am honing in a little more on where I will be expending precious creative energy. Currently in development is my epic length graphic story about invasion, conflict, and the power of love. I say "currently in development" because if you read the want ads on various comics forums you will know this to be code for "not even halfway there". The latter of which, sadly is true, but I have been incubating this thing since childhood, so I really think that most of the hard part is done with. I am still seeking scripts for the first part, writers, if you are out there, I would love to hear scripts from you. I need personal anecdotal stories that have a wartime-feel to them. Message me for more details. But really, this bulletin is to boldly list the projects I am currently working on in the hopes of bolstering a little bit more interest in where I'm a headin'. I'm currently working on another script for CBR's sequential challenge, a place that would be a welcome home for other sequential artists to come and compete. CBR usually hosts an annual Comic Book Idol, that for some reason was cancelled this year. Oh well, I guess there is always Zuda, where upon submission you immediately lose control over your own work for 90 days. Anyway, the CBR script, written by Jamie will be posted here soon. And if you are a fan of the newpaper funnies, you will find it especially enjoyable, so do check back in with me in a few days. Another project I am working on is a five page script from Dan Rafter in which Dan says "I was thinking of turning the script, when drawn, into FutureQuake, IF-X or some other similar anthology." Sounds good to me! This should be done in a few weeks, I've roughed it out and his script is very charming, albeit heartbreaking in its design, especially if you are a single parent. There is a one page pitch for an Asian/Western series that will require a lot of research on my part should I accept it. The pitch would be easy to do, but the series would be a real challenge for me. I am well-versed in western lore and objects, but the Far East is a place that is unfamiliar to me so far as visual vocabulary goes. Thank God for Google image search. This one has great potential, as the writer is well-read and published good stuff before. Also, contemplating a religious-tinged script from someone whose motives I can only guess. I am thinking of opting out of it, since religious-tinged projects always mess with my head and result in needless client/artist drama. On the backburner, for times when I just simply don't feel up to drawing anew, I look to my storied past as a high school comic book company CEO and will be further restoring/republishing my old comics which were "published" (read: Xeroxed- no internet back then) under the Sea-Gull Comics logo. I will post them in their entirety here when the work is finished, but that will be awhile. If you are interested in seeing this work, let me know and I will push a link your way which shows the restoration so far. But the thing that excites me the most is a new series which I have agreed to sign on for awhile. The author is Adrian McIllroyspeed, who has been web-publishing the comic Jayden and Christopher over at Deviant Art. The new series however, seems to differ in tone somewhat and will be a space opera odyssy.I don't want to reveal too many details as of this writing, but I will say I am impressed by young McIlroyspeed's wit, humor, and charm on his past series which has endured more than an entire year. Character designs are finished, and work is underway to show the crew of the ship Good Luck in all their glory. Stay right here and I will keep you abreast of their exploits. The series will be called Privateer. Before I go, I just want to say thanks for reading! I intend to use this space as a brain dump and shameless self promotion space. See ya in a week or so! |
