I'm a freelance digital colorist in Houston, TX. I've been interested in and around comics since I was in 3rd grade, and they've always been a passion of mine. In 2005, I decided to give my (and many other children's) dream a try and started teaching myself Photoshop in an effort to break into the business. I've enjoyed it immensely and have no plans on giving it up any time soon. My sample pages can be found at http://thebdc.deviantart.com/gallery/ And a small taste can be found below. =) And I can be contacted about work at hughescoloring@houston.rr.comI've just finished up the second issue of Fallen Justice and have switched gears to a book called Redshift. I'll post some work from that when it is released. Until then, check out my Deviant Art gallery for some of my recent work! Ringo Tribute Samples:

Great set. Are you doing any advertising to support your stuff? It deserves to be seen by more people. |

*edit* Damn. Tried typing out the BBCodes and that didn't quite work out. They're the same codes we use for message boards and they're displayed when you post a comment to someone. Just wrap your link with the type of code you want. [IMG] for pictures and [URL] for links. |

Hi there! We’re starting up this year’s Small Press Idol…and wanted to invite you to the grand unveiling of this year’s Guidelines. I apologize for the all-in-one nature of this. At this time, individuals and teams have a little over a month to get things together and be ready to post their Round 1 entries. Round 1 will last till March 25th. It’s a solid window to get a project together and qualified for Round 2 past our judge panel. If you are interested in being a contestant, this is fair warning to get a project going! If you are a news outlet or resource of any sort, we invite you to help spread the word about Small Press Idol, and get on the official Sponsors and Supporters list on the Idol Main Page. Traditionally, the page has gotten hundreds of thousands of hits a month for the 5 months the contest runs. All we ask in return for the link placement on our prominently placed list, is a link back in some way that is fairly prominent, and that you indeed cover the contest if you are a news site. You can contact us about that right from the guidelines page. Just want to watch the show? That’s great! Now is time to sign up at the site so you can VOTE in the rounds to come, and post comments about your favorites! We’re expecting hundreds of contestants this year. It should be a lot of fun!

Hope this message reaches you in the spirit it was intended, you are welcome to ask questions, and otherwise make sure this is for real. This is the fourth year for the SPI. Last year’s contest pages are still online. So that’s what this is about, hope it interests you!

Just wanted to stop by and drop a comment - since we'd been doing so on the Image Forum... but I come here and.... *gasp* where are the comments?
Anyway, as I noted on the Shadowline Forum, I agree with you about the features on ComicSpace. Pray they don't go through the roof... and pray the webcam chicks don't follow over here preying on geeks (as they do at comic conventions with their "personality / photo op / booths).
Your color work looks damn cool, and I know what you mean about teaching yourself photoshop. I'm in that game, too. Though folks who dedicate all their time (like you) have plenty more tricks up their sleeve, and BETTER ones at that. I just color to get by, kind of a Jack-of-all-trades and master-of-none, deal. My colors skew to pastel and soft... which sometimes doesn't work with my current project.
Anyway.... enough talking shop, just wanted to drop a comment line and all that jazz and see who is who on my friends list. Of course, I already knew you, so that was a no-brainer.... but you gotta start somewhere. Cheers! |
