I write this comic feature, Talking Pictures, and when I can dial it down, publish in the Rutland (Vermont) Daily Herald. Selected favorites are here also with a sadly neglected message board. Since October, when there was some kind of epiphany, it's gone from six or seven or eight panels down to three and now it's one, all in one, all IS one, so you can read the monolog even if the thing is printed small. I still can't draw or write worth a damn, so I stay with the photography. My old man gave me a plastic-bodied Kodak Brownie when I was a kid, and I've had a camera in my hands ever since. My influences are film, old Donald Duck comics, early Kurtzman MAD and newspapers. I became a journalist because back in the day watching George Reeves as Clark Kent strip down to his skivvies and leap tall buildings in a single bound, I said to myself, "That's a cool racket."

Join us, Rich ...

We live in a nice compound on a farm in Guilford, raise cartoon goats and drink the nice cartoon drinks the men in glowing suits bring us.

You will be happy here.

Hehe, a good question, my friend. ^_^
My name is indeed Italian, and whilst there, I was subject to two major life influences: anime on the TV and Dylan Dog (an uber comic series!).
The funny thing is that I was drawing 'manga' long before anyone pointed out to me that the animated influences I used to absorb as a child were japanese. Of course as I grew I discovered printed manga and loved it, but by then my style had already formed to a point. So even to this day, I don't really think of my style as manga...it's just how people perceive it...odd. 0_o
Because of my style, the groups and publishers who showed interest were always manga-rooted....and so I seem to have found myself on that path.

I still take just as much influence from my collection of european and US comics as I do from manga....but there we go. I draw what feels comfortable to me. ^_^

Manga shakespeare - yup - ambitious indeed...especially nerve wracking for me as a Shakespeare scholar and a huge fan of Hamlet himself....we shall see! ^_^
