Super hero sketchbook

Hey all!

A buddy of mine had a great idea. He bought a sketchbook and every time he meets an artist he gets them to draw a Dick Tracy character in it. The book is really cool and I am so jealous of it. So I wanted to do a project like that myself.

So a friend of mine gets these very entertaining e-mails from a young comics fan. (God I hope he's young!! I hope he's not 47 years old!) The characters are all rip-offs of something. Superman. Iron Man. The Matrix. Twelve Monkeys. And they way he writes about the characters is hilarious. He uses commas every third word. Comma, commas, commas. He will use a comma and then a period after it,.

Anyway his most recent e-mail contains descriptions of about 20 characters and I thought they’d make a great springboard for my little project. I can get a bunch of artists to envision one of these characters and post a gallery here on Comicspace!

Anyone who wants to contribute a drawing please send me a message through my page here and I’ll send you the character list. I’m hoping to get a really wide variety so even if you aren’t "mainstream Marvel" in style or even a super hero artist I don’t care. Diversity is the name of the game. Pencils, inks, color…whatever. All I ask is that you keep it rated PG. Send me a jpeg, like 700-750 pixels tall and when I get enough I’ll post a gallery.
