Hi, how are you? Our studio recently put a new site up. pencily.com is a great source of inspiration for illustrators, animators and designers, so I hope you find it as useful as we do!

All the best,

Kyri Kyprianou

Thanx so much for adding me!

I swear, damn near everything you write practically breathes youthful dynamism. Our bodies in the 'real world' can atrophy and zombify with the effects of time and age, but your characters and stories would live on, like punk-rock Peter Pans, testifying to the unholy trio of comic books, loud music, and teenage kicks. And frankly, I wouldn't have it any other way.

Uncharitable critics would say that Teenagers From Mars and Pirates of Coney Island are stuck in a kind of unapologetically permanent adolescence, unable to divest themselves of the middle-finger responses and hard-ass attitudes that characterize foolish youth. That may be so, but it serves its' purpose. It reminds us of the unbridled possibility that comes with having one's life ahead of them -- even when that potential is squandered on targeted vandalism and misguided pseudo-"culture jams". I think a little celebration of reckless folly will always have a place in the world, as long as there are bored and vaguely disaffected kids, whose creativity is stifled by narrow-minded bougie ideals.

Besides, if you want genuinely mature, well-crafted stories about growing up, you can always pick up, say, Andi Watson's stuff. But with a Rick Spears comic, you more or less know what you're in for (thus far, anyway). And that's youth gone wild -- often in the most eye-assaultingly cool way possible.

Man, thanks for that crit of my work. Scarry though how much it sounds like you're talking about me personally esp. "stuck in a kind of unapologetically permanent adolescence, unable to divest (himself) of the middle-finger responses and hard-ass attitudes that characterize foolish youth... just add helpless romantic and you've got me pegged!

Thanks for adding me.
I gotta say, Priates is becoming one of my favorite monthly books. Too bad its gonna end after 8 issues. And Teenagers From Mars is one of my all time favorite stories ever. I can't wait for the sequel.
And The Dog Catcher in Detective a few years back was AWESOME!
