My first comic came right after I graduated from college. With two very talented artists (Mitch Byrd and Steven Butler), I created and wrote the series CAT & MOUSE. It was first published by EFG...who then went bellyup. C&M was then picked up by the Aircel line of Malibu Comics and proceeded to run for 18 issues. Many of those were in the top 10 b&w titles as published by Comic Shop News.
I went on to write other titles: Miss Fury, Arrow, Eliminator, Switchblade, POTA: Blood of the Apes, Rocket Ranger and others. In 1989, I started Silverline, a packaging company with Steven and Mitch and we packaged titles until 1992 when I was hired as an editor at Malibu. Over the next few years I edited such titles as Protectors, Dinosaurs For Hire, Ex-Mutants, Gravestone, as well as such Ultraverse titles as Rune, Sludge, Prototype, Night Man, Strangers and others.
I worked at Malibu through the Marvel buy-out and then was subsequently let go like 120 others the day the Malibu division was shut down. After that, I dusted off the Silverline name and proceeded to publish as a small press. I published Switchblade, SilverStorm, The Scary Book, Marauder and CyberTrash and the Dog. The last Silverline title was published in 2000.
I'm now a Jesus freak and am working on secret projects and am always looking for artists to work with.

Hey Carlos! Well, not as such. It'll be different for me if I get back "in" this time. Man, I really wanted the Silverline stuff to be able to pick up your titles. I think it could have done well. I just ran out of money--too small and all that.

Hi Roland! I never expected to find you here. Who would have guessed that the newspaper editor sitting across the room from me in church has such a rich background in comics?

-Ethan

Newspaper editor is just my secret identity for the moment! :)

heya Roland,

Think about you from time to time and wonder what you're up to. I dropped out of comics for a long time, but came back a few years ago. You can check out my work of the last few years at my website:

Currently working on a collection of Flood Myths with A. David Lewis, and have several books from or coming from soon, Archaia Studios Press.

A good outfit.

Looks like you've been a busy Mann. I'm currently in Arkansas, where my branch of Manns have been since about 1860. Editing a small town newspaper for the time being.

Hey - Good to see you online too. It is all like a big spread out con - everyone has their own "table" to decorate.

Yeah...I wonder just how large this thing will grow? Has the potential to get really big, I think.
How's life out in TX? Ever get back to Pineville? :)

Oh, I think we'll have to do some special announcements soon . . . perhaps together? Or would that be revealing too much? :D

Hey Norm. I've only been in Ark. for about 6 months. (my family, however, has been here for 150 years!) However, I moved back to God's country (the South) in 1996 after Marvelcutions. I do NOT miss LA, but I do miss some of the "comic" stuff.

Hello Roland, Glad to meet you.

One of my favorite-ever editors!

How the hell are you?!

Hey Martin,
Awww shucks. Yer too kind. Man, all I ever wanted to do was produce good comics! :)
I'm well. I'm back in God's country (that is the South for all of you who didn't know) and find myself now in Arkansas as the editor of a small town weekly newspaper.
How about yourself?

Still writing for my wages. Mostly writing prose these days, you know, short stories and novels. Very busy time right now.

I do have a couple comics projects looming on the horizon, hopefully by the end of the year.

Anyway, stop by my MySpace and check out my slideshow for a quick update of my various projects.

Hey Roland!

Great to hear from you. This is a pretty cool place, I think you'll like it. How's life in Arkansas?

Chuck

Man, life in Arkansas has been a whole lot COLDER than I'm used to! Pretty weird, too--seems like every 3rd person I meet is a cousin to me! haha

That's funny! I just sent you an email and mentioned this site and you're already there!

"HERE" is debatable. I still feel lost and wandering around. Pretty cool, though.
