First off, I'd like to thank you for stopping by to see my profile! Basically, I am just a guy who has always enjoyed drawing. However, up until now, I've never taken it beyond anything other than a hobby. Despite a short lived stint in the small press arena of the mid 80's, creating comics is still an unfulfilled goal of mine. Last year I decided to try and make my art a bigger part of who I am. I started painting digitally fairly recently, and it ignited the spark that brought my "creative engines" back to life. Making the decision to go online and promote myself has helped me to find some old friends and to make some new ones, all who have the great desire to do something creative with their time. I am very accessible and encourage anyone who enjoys what I do to say hello! Needless to say, all artwork, original characters, or designs are copyright (2007) by Russell Runion. I’m going about, inviting anyone and everyone, to participate in the greatest show in Indy Comics: Small Press Idol 2008. Last year, over 100 teams competed for the chance to be published, and dozens of the top projects have been appearing in Mysterious Visions Anthology. 3 of the other top projects have been picked up by 3rd party publishers, and a couple others are also now with the Dimestore Imprint. This year, we’re upping the ante. With a very small entry free, we’re going to have a CASH PRIZE for the winner, as well as a publishing deal.
Sounds interesting? Anyone who is not currently being published by a “name” company, who is not making a living making comics, is eligible. So if you have a webcomic you’d like to rework a bit into a comic…entering will grab you lots of new eyes on your work. Self published issues haven’t been selling great? Kick it up a notch, and see how it stacks up in the spotlight.
