HELP A GEEK GIRL BRING COMICS AND GEEK CULTURE TO NPR!
I'm entering a contest for National Public Radio looking for new shows and hosts. My idea is geek culture, highlighting the female fans, creators, and perspective. Of course, the guys won't get left out either. I plan to cover, among other things, sci-fi, fantasy, books, movies, star trek, firefly RPG's video games, Anime and Manga, and of course comics. So please if you like, show your love! ****************************************************************** A 29-year-old librarian specializing in graphic novels and Japanese anime, I’ve been writing since I’ve been able to hold a pencil, mostly sci-fi, fantasy, and related topics. I'm also a huge fan of Mythology, cultural stories, folklore, and fairy tales. I'd like to someday work as a writer for various comics, and am developing several ideas for stories in comic format. Can’t draw to save my life, but that’ll only slow me down. Also interesting in vocal acting, and have been doing minor radio commercial work. Playing about with internet podcasting, and always on the look out for web animation that may need an actress. :) I also sometimes act as a guest host on the Pod cast “Secret Identity” Favorite comics include: Sandman, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Martian Manhunter, Read or Die, New Frontier, X-men, Batman, Superman, JLA, Blankets, The Crow, Preacher, Y the last Man, A Superman for all Seasons, A League of One, Chrono Crusade, Batman: Child of Dreams, Grease Monkey, Appleseed, Hellboy, The Watchmen, Maus, Fables, Captain Drew and His Crew of Two, Spider Man, The Tick and Green Lantern. Some Fave Artists and Writers: Art Spiegelman, Neil Gaiman, Frank Miller, Alan Moore, Daisuke Moriyama, Yashuiro Nightow, Christopher Moeller, Kevin Smith, Jill Thompson, Hajime Kanzaka, Peter Laird, Judd Winick, Darwyn Cooke and Alex Ross. Big animation fan as well, both anime and domestic. Some faves: Witch Hunter Robin, Miyazaki’s films, Satoshi Kon’s films, Justice League Animated, Batman: The Animated Series, Batman Beyond, Aqua Teen Hunger force, Robot Chicken, Gargoyles, Wolf’s Rain, Venture Brothers Trigun, Paranoia Agent, Samurai 7, Static Shock, Ghost in the Shell, X-men Evolution, Ren and Stimpy, and Invader Zim.
