Hi! Just stopping by to geek out about the end of Girls coming out today. Glad you enjoyed the article. I can't wait to read it! :)

My comic shop sold out of the finale, so I have to wait for the trade to come out next month! But that's okay, I missed the last two issues so I need to catch up. I've been so impressed with both Ultra and Girls and how they've explored gender, relationships and the nature of communication (or lack thereof) between men and women. I sure can't wait to see what they do next.

Thanks, Shane! Preacher has been my addiction as of late. Just finished off the series, and I can't wait to see how HBO adapts everything.

[ Posted by ScarComicsPress on Mar 5th, 2007 4:28 PM ]...

Yeah me too. I'm actually glad it's going to be a TV series rather than a movie, as I think it's much more suited to this. Hopefully they'll be able to get some really good character episodes in there.

[ Posted by Saturn_Girl on Mar 6th, 2007 1:25 AM ]...

Just saw the sneak preview for the next Y: The Last Man, and Jesse's lighter makes an appearance! I don't smoke, but I still want one of those Zippos. I wouldn't be surprised if they start mass marketing the heck out of those to promote the Preacher series.

[ Posted by ScarComicsPress on Mar 6th, 2007 5:55 AM ]...

That would be really cool, but you can get your bottom dollar they wouldn't sell them over here

Hey - thanks for the compliment on the Kirkman article! It was fun doing that one -- he's such a great writer!

You're welcome, and you're right - he's terrific! :) So when you get to conduct interviews, are they usually done via phone, email, or in person? What was your favorite article you've ever done for Newsarama?

[ Posted by Vaneta on Jan 5th, 2007 12:10 AM ]...

It's about half email and half phone interviews. My favorite articles are one I did with Brian Michael Bendis about his departure from Daredevil and a profile on Mike Deodato. I just think they turned out well. My favorite interviews were my profile on Geoff Johns and every interview I've ever done with Keith Giffen. He makes me laugh so hard I almost pee my pants. :p

[ Posted by Saturn_Girl on Jan 5th, 2007 3:54 PM ]...

Keith Giffen's Ambush Bug stories always killed me, so I'm not at all surprised to hear he induces pants-wetting laughter. :) Thanks for helping to make Newsarama the coolest comic site on the web. I visit at least twice a day! And if you take requests, I'd love to read an interview with Pia Guerra about the end of Y: The Last Man and her future plans - I'm dying to know what comic she draws next!

[ Posted by Vaneta on Feb 27th, 2007 1:10 PM ]...

Thanks! I'll see if I can do that!

Wow, I don't know whether to reply to comments on my own page, or yours. So confusing, so I'm doing both! Anyway, we seem to have similar tastes in TV, do you watch Veronica Mars? I find people who liked Buffy usually like V. Mars. You should check it out.

Yes, I just started watching VMars and it is a lot of fun. Am I hallucinating, or do they film the High School scenes at the same place they used for BtVS? Looks so similar. I've got S1 in my Netflix queue so I can catch up.

Apparently Joss Whedon is a huge fan of VM, too - I heard he filmed a cameo, so I'm looking forward to that. Do you visit www.whedonesque.com? He posts there occasionally. He's a big fan of Battlestar Galactica, another show I really love right now. Jane Epenson, who wrote many eps of BtVS, is writing for that show now. Her first ep was really, really good, one of my faves this season.

[ Posted by aki_san on Dec 21st, 2006 6:11 PM ]...

I upgraded my cable this season, you should see how "sunny" V.Mars season 3 is in High Def! Can't wait 'til you're caught up. My friend Ben goes to Whedonesque.com all the time, so he keeps me pretty well updated. (I need to put it on my daily visit list!) BSG is absolutely my favorite show, but I liked the boxing episode best of all. The only reason I didn't care for "The Passage" is that I don't really like 'Kat that much. I did think it was a well written ep though.

Thanks for the comments! Kirkman's The Walking Dead is the zombie series I always wanted to write. The thing that's interesting about good survival horror is showing how it affects the characters. Seeing people going around blasting away at the living dead is fun...for a while, but gets tired if it doesn't address the human issues. Kirkman does this brilliantly. We get right into the heads of the characters, and they don't always react how they should and how we would want them to. And, like any good writer, Kirkman lets the story write itself.
An example being #33. I wonder if he had that planned from the beginning, or if just evolved? I feel my first letter to a comic book being drafted... ;o)

[ Posted by wayfarer on Dec 19th, 2006 12:50 PM ]...

Hi! Thanks for the add! Supernatural and Heroes are, indeed, very good.

How is the new legion cartoon? Say, if Teen Titans was a 1 and JLU was a 10...

1 Reply [ Latest posted on December 19th, 2006 12:26 PM ]

[ Posted by Saturn_Girl on Dec 19th, 2006 12:26 PM ]...

The actual rating scale is if Fantastic Four was a 1, JLU was a 10 and Teen Titans an 8 - I'd give the LOSH 'toon 7, although I've missed most of them. It would rate higher if Superboy was not named Superman (which I'm assume is related to the Superboy rights issues) which kind of ruins the retro girl/lad/lass appeal of the show.

That, and Matter Eater Lad is not a regular. BOO!

also i think i would like to see another ultra story or one from that universe.

[ Posted by Saturn_Girl on Dec 18th, 2006 2:30 PM ]...

I would love to see a follow up to Ultra! I loved the magazine styling of the issues and the whole look and feel of that world, one where the stories weren't about the superheroics so much as the people and their personal lives. That was a great series. I can't wait to see what the Luna Brothers do next, since Girls is wrapping up pretty soon. I hope they stick with indie tales - their Spider-Woman was fine, but they do better when they're allowed to be unconventional.

Hey, Daniel! So I see you're reading Irredeemable Antman - haven't gotten it yet, hear it's good. What do you like most about it? (Other than Kirkman writes it!)

Thanks for adding me. =)

I miss Young Avengers... Come back to us, Allan!

Scans Daily manages to be both awesome and annoying. I need to find something to share with them, it's been awhile since I've posted something new.

Am I evil for wishing Grey's Anatomy would get canceled so Allan Heinberg would write YA again? The wait is going to absolutely kill me, but even so I'd be nervous if Marvel ever announced a new writer for the series. I absolutely love Hulkling and Wiccan together and I'd probably go postal on Marvel's ass if they ever retconned them into "just good friends."

I love Scans Daily and all the kooks there, though there are a few spammy posters that I wish would post a little less, you know? I don't have a scanner or I'd post stuff there more often.

Scans Daily is great because it has introduced me to tons of comics I'd never even heard of and probably wouldn't have picked up on my own, which includes Runaways, Manhunter, and Y The Last Man.

And you're welcome about the add - I'm always looking for cool folks who like talking about comics! Drop by or PM any time. :)
