www.myspace.com/scorpiosteele www.scorpiosteele.com THE PASSION OF SCORPIO Whether drawing comic books, doing commissioned illustrations, designing tee shirts or tapping away at my prose novel, my thrust is a simple one: to create. In this digital Age of the Computer, I believe in keeping the human being the primary creator of any project. While I may utilize such programs as Photoshop and Illustrator to enhance my hand-drawn images, I prefer to keep the software in its place--as a tool and a helper--not the creator. I enjoy problem-solving. At the end of the day I enjoy knowing that I faced a challenge, a puzzle, recognized the details involved in its solution, and overcame it. Upon those details I thrive. I relish finding the connections between seemingly disparate things. I worship the ideal of Professionalism; it is a code by which I live. As much as I love my own ideas I am always open to the viewpoints of others. I am humble, yet also certain that I will make your project succeed. RESUME July, 2008 SPIDER-MAN: WITH GREAT POWER #5 (INKER) Daredevil inker Stefano Gaudiano and I did tag-team finishes over David Lapham's pencils. May-July, 2008 THE ADVENTURES OF MR. TOMPKINS I am currently collaborating with Professor Igor Gamow on this television pilot, co-writing and illustrating. Gamow, famous in his own right for patenting a hyperbaric bag used in high-altitude climbing, is the son of George Gamow, esteemed scientist and an early developer of The Big Bang Theory of the Universe. April, 2008 THE NEW COMIC BOOK HEROES A collaboration with Frequent Flyers, Colorado's pre-eminent low-flying trapeze and aerial dance-theatre company. I drew the backdrops, which were projected onto the cyc, the screen behind the dancers. 2007 BADGER: BULL! (INKER) Kevin Caron penciled, I assisted on inks. This was a very exciting project because I used to read Badger when I was just a kid buying comic books. 2005-2006 GOODBYE BLUE MONDAY Art Director GBM is a branding and identity firm, as well as Colorado's largest screenprinter. As head of the art department I designed a plethora of fine wearable art for clients such as The Colorado Shakespeare Festival, Aramark, Bolder Boulder, La Piazza Dell'Arte and Taste of Colorado. 2003 AMERICAN SOLAR ENERGY SOCIETY ILLUSTRATIONS The American Solar Energy Society (ASES) is a nonprofit organization established to encourage the use of solar and other renewable energy technologies. For ASES's identity brochure I drew a series of pencil illustrations. 1998-2004 THE VIDEO STATION: Merchandise Manager/Artist My responsibilities included graphic design of fliers, sale advertisements, and in-store promotion of over 40,000 film titles. I also designed the logo. |
