Getting into comics is hard

So anyway ... my job sucks. Been doing the whole graphic design thing for way too long. Too many hours, too little pay, no job satisfaction and I'm tired of designing adverts.
So being the new year I'm pushing to get into the thing I love the most – COMICS!! I've sent my stuff through to Avatar and even contacted a new little local comic company that's just started up around here. I'm working on some Marvel, DC, Image and Dark Horse subs as well and hoping I somehow get the cash together to get to San Diego Con this year to show my stuff.
I know the competition out there is tough, I've seen some work that makes me wonder what chance I have but hell, I'll keep trying anyway! If that doesn't work, I have other idea's like having my own comic done by the end of the year and maybe finding a publisher for it. It's called the Paranormals and sadly it's taking awhile to do cos of my pain-in-the-ass 9 to 5 job which is actually more of a 7 to 8 job most of the time. But hey, a guys gotta pay the bills.
