I think I'm lucky, not having any other life dependent on me. I can stomach these occasional bouts of being "gainfully unemployed". I know a growing list of good people who wish like hell they could do this for a living, working in the funny book biz. I have a feeling better days are a'comin' though.

and I'm a pessimist.

I fnd myself in dire need of work. Nothing happening in the storyboard arena with movies or commercials, and nothing AT ALL happeninng in the comics world.

Getting downright depressed.

Read your "ambition vs. passion" column. Very true stuff. Unfortunately when you hit my age and the paying of mortgages becomes key to your future, and your energy is seriously waning, it can be very hard to re-affirm your passion.

I reeeally liked your style used for Project Epsilon and Blood Curse. I love when expressive characters in backgound-lush panels actually tell stories. Someone should start a medium just for this!

Seriously, the "real life" details in the Blood Curse pages especially were a nice touch. Proof positive that the actual physicalities of a setting can affect the mood as much as lighting, or even action.

Thanks Richard, I do try to keep the whole picture in mind. The reason I find comics so fascinating is because of the many disciplines involved in creating an effective story.

ah, mucho appreciated! i actually find it semi easy... so i guess that means i need to do a longer piece soon! i think a comic done in all scratchboard might be neat.
