Hello and welcome, strange to think that a medium that is very much rooted to print is appearing all over the internet. Obvious i know but i always thought the point of comic books was that you have a piece of modern art in your hand.

Think about it comics have some of the highest standards of writing and drawing or any monthly periodical there is. Strange again that somehow comics are perceived as a juvenile fascination, yet for some of us this fascination with colourful images and fantastical stories never fades and may never.

Everyone remembers their first comic book and some fans will still have that comic as a symbol of their love and facination with this popular medium.

I love to draw and nothing blows my mind more than cracking open a comic to see artwork of incredilbe high standards or even stories that can give some of the best writers, tv shows and films a run for their money. To look at these works of each page and think that maybe less than a month ago these pages where blank and a team of talented people turned it into a thing of beauty.

I know it does seem somewhat of an excessive view to have but as I stated previously I love to draw and can anybody out there who loves to draw say that they are not humbled by the work of their favourite artist or writer. When i see anything by the Kubert's or Mark Silvestre, Frank Miller's fantastic two toned Sin City or Mike Mignolia's detailed panels I feel slightly disappointed because it's hard to top such standards. Although that is the job of our favourites, to show us a point to aim for, to give us a clear line that says "when you're this good, you're one of the best".

So i ask you next time you open your favourite title, don't just read the story and look at the pictures but study them and appreciate something, although you more than likely already appreciate, but really study it.
