April 26, 2007
Shame on me! I've been neglecting my little space here, and I'm right sorry about that. Been up to my ears in school work, trying to get ready for the fall. Applied to four colleges in the Toronto area, still waiting on my package from the SVA in NY (School of Visual Arts). We finally had a few nice days of weather and then BAM! all hell breaks loose, heavy winds and the hardest rainfall I've seen in like the past 5 years. It figures I was out grocery shopping at the time too because I got totally drenched on the way back (I walk =P). And funny side-note, as I'm running across the street, my pants fall down because they are so heavy with all the water, oh how embarassing (hah hah) =P. Last week was pretty nice with the release of Girls 24, although I felt it was a bit anti-climatic at the end. Was I the only who could see that coming ? *Being vague as I don't want to spoil anything* Anyway I've got a new HD coming sometime in the next week, and then I can finally get some things uploaded. 'Scuse the tardyness again, it can't be helped! =P - C April 9, 2007 Past few days have been busy busy! I've been working on my portfolio like a mad man, getting it ready to send out to a few art schools. Hopefully it's up to snuff! The weather has still been pretty ca-razy, lot's of snow and still very cold. What happened to the luke warm temps of April ? It feels like friggin January here! Going to pick up a new scanner this week, nothing to extravagant.. I'm on a tight budget ya know! Anyway work beckons! - C April 6, 2007 Well, guess I'll use this space for blogs and stuff instead of the bulletins! Comic Space should really have an add blog feature, kind of like myspace(gag!). I've done a couple sketches since I signed up, of The Immortal Iron Fist (Danny Rand) to celebrate issue number four's release. Hopefully once i do a little colour work on them, I can get them scanned at the beginning of next week! Just sent away for a course guide from SVU (School of Visual Arts) in New York. I've heard good very good things about that school so I'll check it out and see if it's a possibility. Tomorrow I'm going to visit my Uncle. He's an artist and has done some comic themed work in the past. Not really looking forward to it, he's a notorious complainer and gets on my last nerve, but he's a lonely guy so yeah, I'll give him some company for a bit. Anyway, that's that! - C April 2nd, 2007 Heres what I'm reading: American Virgin Anita Blake Ares mini series (5 ish) B.P.R.D - Garden of Souls Black Harvest Blue Beetle Checkmate V2 Demo Fell Girls Invincible Jack Of Fables Ms Marvel New Avengers New X-Men (Academy X) Runaways Strange Girl The Irredeemable Ant-Man The Pirates of Coney Island Ultimate Spider-Man Wasteland Witchblade X-Factor V3 I know it seems like a lot, but when you're a starving artist(and I *am*), you have a lot of time on your hands. Anyway, I'm trying to break into the Industry. There's really only one person that I'd love to work with if I ever got the chance, and that's Becky Cloonan (geek/fan thing, I'm sure you understand). Her art is just fantastic, mind blowing even, I know she thinks Guy Davis is the most awesome artist alive, but c'mon Becky, we know better =P. Well, once I get my new desk, and a new scanner, hopefully I'll be able to get some art posted on here. Until then though it's going to be prettin freakin' bare, so be patient. I'm very social, so don't be afraid to befriend me! In fact, I urge you too, it can get pretty boring on this networking sites when there's a bunch of shy people around! Talk soon, - Chris |
