SimonBowland
Born in Cheshire, England in 1975, Simon became a fan of comics from an early age and has collected comics seriously for over 20 years now. Always fascinated by the different styles of lettering, Simon took the skills developed from his day job as a designer and studied hard to learn everything he could about lettering as an art form.
Simon established his own lettering business in 2002 and has worked with clients including Marvel, DBPro, Dynamite, Dark Horse, Top Cow, Image, and 2000AD/Rebellion.
Currently, Simon is lettering comics for Marvel, Dynamite, and 2000AD/Rebellion.

Hi Tom, Honoured to have you visiting my humble page, it was seeing your work and Richard Starkings' work which first inspired me to day-dream about a career lettering comics back in the 1980s. I always remember that UNCANNY X-MEN didn't look half as good when you weren't lettering it, same with EXCALIBUR. I'm hoping to get some samples up here soon, and would love to hear your (and anyone else's) thoughts. In the meantime, my work can be seen in most of the Dynamite and Dabel Brothers books. |

Hello Simon! Nice to see you here. Do you know I still have emails from you way back 2000? I'm such an email packrat! How have you been all these years? 1 Reply [ Latest posted on January 9th, 2007 11:25 AM ]

I got married myself, and I'm still in comics, which is exactly where I want to be. I've recently started seriously publishing my own comics and it's turning out quite well. I'm even being carried by Forbidden Planet so it's been really great! |

Hi Shane, Good to hear from you! How are you doing? |

Keeping really bust thanks. As well as Scar Comics and Smallzone, I'm also one of the organisers of the new Birmingham International Comics Show which debuted last December. We have another show planned this September which I'm really looking forward to.
I see from your profile, that the lettering gigs are keeping you really bust too?

Yeah, the lettering is keeping me incredibly busy these days. Never a dull moment, and I wouldn't have it any other way! |

More power to you buddy.
While I have your attention, I'd just like to mention that comic industry pros get into our events for free, so it would be great if you could make it to our next one in September.
If you'd like to register as an Attending Proffesional just email James Hodgkins at: james@thecomicsshow.co.uk
all the best, Shane |

As a more serious comment: folks looking for a letterer can't do better than MR. Simon Bowland. I've worked with him on two books and his work is of the highest quality. Not to mention he's a good dude and brews a mean cup of coffee. 1 Reply [ Latest posted on December 21st, 2006 10:23 AM ]
