Just another 14-year-old trapped in the body of a balding 30-year-old, trying to make sense of this crazy, mixed-up world by molding and shaping the youth of tommorow. It's a frightening prospect, admittedly.

And since I find far too few people in western Maine waving their geek banners proudly, I'm more than willing to stand up and be counted.

Books I Dig: Robin, Fables, DMZ, JSA, JLA, Detective Comics, Batman, Runaways, Astonishing X-Men, Uncanny X-Men, X-Men, Walking Dead, Scott Pilgrim, Teen Titans, Nextwave, Y the Last Man, Exterminators, Powers, Checkmate, Garage Band, Lost Colony, Action Philsophers, Utopiates, Magnitude, Invincible

Writers I Dig: Brian K. Vaughan, Brian Wood, Brian Michael Bendis (I've a think for Brians -- so sue), Geoff Johns, Mark Waid, Greg Rucka, Ed Brubaker, Warren Ellis, Grant Morrison, Alan Moore, Chris Claremont, Matt Fraction, James Robinson, Bill Willingham, Adam Beechen (buy Robin, buy Robin, buy Robin), Paul Dini, Kurt Busiek, Alex Robinson, Jeff Smith, Paul Chadwick, Simon Oliver

Artists I Dig: Freddie Williams II, Mike Norton, Riccardo Burchielli, Steve Bryant, Mark Buckingham, Alex Robinson, Walt Simonson, Michael Avon Oeming, Gene Colan, Dave Cockrum, Alan Davis, John Romita, John Romita Jr., Clan Kubert, Chris Sprouse, Kevin Maguire, Jeff Smith, Paul Chadwick, Pia Guerra, Tony Moore

Brilliant Stuff of the Moment: I'm STILL digging through my piles from NYCC even though it was about 2 months ago. Lots more to go through including Klezmer, a ton of Walking Dead TPBs, and Villians United.

Best reads this week: Working my way through Cerebus vol. 1 in no small part due to a great series of interviews among the podcasting nation -- especially CGS. Also scored a handful of Spider-Man: Tangled Web at a small little show -- fun Ted McKeever story, really nice Darwin Cooke issue -- and a Scott McCloud penned Superman Adventures that I'm looking forward to.

Oh, and I finish Meg Rosoff's 'How I Live Now' -- prose novel -- in two hours and dug the holy heck out of it. David Levithan is next on tap.

Likewise, Peter. Man, I felt 13 again walking around, gawking at the talent, yammering on like I haven't had social interaction in three months or something. Ehh...what can I say? The forums are the only other place I ever get to 'talk' comics, so I had to cram it all into as many conversations as I could.

From the sounds of that last episode -- I'm halfway through -- you guys had a pretty great con. Have fun in Pittsburgh!

I gots to be honest, man - I didn't love American Born Chinese. I thought it was decent right up until the last segment, but the fantasy and metaphoric elements turning literal just took me right out of the story and kind of ruined it for me. Too bad, really.

I hear ya. I think a big part of me digging it was thinking about how ANY of my students could read it and get it. And the criss-crossing of the stories was pretty sweet. But yeah, I would've changed that element of it, too. THe first half is just so damned good -- reminds me of the first issues of Bone and the rat creatures sequences.

I've lived in Bangor for the past 12 years I believe.

Did you used to frequent Nostalgia, Ink? That was my home away from home forever.

Anyone hooked on Essential Luke Cage is all right with me. I'm halfway through volume 2 and of course, I'm ready Essential Iron Fist as well. They're the Peanut Butter Cups of Comics.

I haven't picked up Iron Fist -- yet. But it won't be long before I knee deep in Danny Rand and his booties. (That sounded a lot better in my head.)

I'm a Bangor expatriate, actually. How long you been around those parts?

Ain't no thing! It's well deserved!

Here's hoping to success with The Key. Did I read that right? It's coming out in April?

Thanks for the kind words -- I'm hoping the metal ones will spare me if they ever decide to attack based on my giving them respect in these parts. But that's probably just wishful thinking -- they are heartless bastards.
