TRANSFORMER Movie Review

Thanks to Paramount and my love of comics, I won tickets while at Atlanta Comic Convention to see “THE MOVIE” last night 06-28-07.

Let me thank Michael Bay, who proved me wrong and didn’t screw it up. That’s right folks, let me be the first to tell you TRANSFORMERS DID NOT SUCK in fact just the opposite. As far as I’m concerned it the best comic/small screen to big screen movie so far. I can’t say it was non stop action because it wasn’t, the action that was there was almost perfect, the first few fight scenes were shot real close up so you couldn’t tell what was going on, but it got sooo much better. I say it wasn’t non stop action, because it left a lot of room for comedy, and some romance, and yes Megatron belittling Starscream.

Speaking of Megatron and Starscream. Let’s talk about some bots. I can already hear people talking now, “but Bumblebee isn’t…”, ahh, but nothing. Bay’s choice to not use the beetle, only because he doesn’t like VW beetles was stupid. But Oh My God, Bumblebee, as a Camaro steals the show, he was able to make it look cool, and was able to achieve the effect he was going for. Yes I’d have liked him to have stuck to the beetle, but it works and it works well. Now you’ll notice bots you’ve seen before, but they have new names, i.e. Blackout takes over for Vortex as MH-53 Helicopter, Frenzy is in the place of Soundwave as a boom box/phone, and Brawl and Devastator have been combined.

The acting in the film is great, realistic, moving, and funny. Shia LaBeouf as Sam Witwicky, I will be seeing anything with this kid in it. He is really proving himself as an actor. He took this role and made it his. I wasn’t over joy'ed with anyone else, I mean Megan Fox is hot I mean Super Hot as Mikaela Banes, but her acting was only ok, again she’s hot so it’s ok. I could have dealt without John Turtrro over acting as Agent Simmons, it just was too much.

All and all this is a great movie I’ll be seeing it over and over again.

I give it, thanks to Megan Fox, 3 appendages up.
