I can't claim to be an artist, just someone with a creative side that needs indulging. One way of doing that was to create comic strips with ducks in them. Spurred on by friend's opinions and funding, my one time indulgence has now become a fully fledged webcomic with an ever expanding online readership. A slowly expanding readership (hey, I do this for free, advertising is a luxury), but expanding nontheless. I write and illustrate all the strips, so any bad jokes are entirely my fault, for which I refuse to apologise. Hardly surprising, but there's more to it than that. There's a moose, racoon, snakes and tortoises in there, too. Taking a joke-a-day format with occasional ongoing storylines new strips are produced around three times a week. Sometimes random, sometimes based on real personal events, if you find funnier ducks anywhere else then we'll gladly refund you your money!* (*did I happen to mention it's all free to begin with?)

I wanted to take some time in this new year to thank you folks for your support of me and my little comic strip Town Called Dobson. We crossed the 500th Strip threshold this past year, got printed in some great independent newspapers, got to show off how I create TCD at Adobe over the summer and the continued presence in the blogosphere is always a blessing. Without your support, readership and emails, TCD would never have made it so long. It is with the deepest heart I thank you all. It is vital that progressive issues are represented in editorial cartooning, especially in these days of dwindling news readership.
Your consistent support and strip devotion has earned Town Called Dobson a 2008 Weblog Award Nomination for Best Webcomic. I am stunned to be nominated and I am sure Karl Rove was secretly working behind the scenes to kill the nomination off, but "Hope" wins again! |
