Squid Works Meeting Reminder

Sunday, April 13th from 1 - 4 pm, there's a Squid Works meeting
scheduled at Enchanted Grounds at 8800 S. Colorado Blvd. in Highlands
Ranch. 303-470-1010. Although, I have been talking to Dana Cain
about the possibility of moving this month's meeting to the
Majesticon, which is the same day at the Ramada Inn at 120th & I-25 in
Northglenn. Are you intererested? Vote at
http://cts.vresp.com/c/?SquidWorks/0531771e62/TEST/34c0b13774/topic=39
6.0.
The poll only lasts for 4 days, so if it's decided to move the
meeting, I'll let you know at least 2 days prior. If you can't vote,
please register to participate in our forum to do so.

Agenda:

Starfest: Right now it appears that it'll be just Chris, Tanya, John,
Brendan and I. I trust that the table and badges are all in order,
but Chris is organizing this, so if you want to find out about getting
involved, let me know and I'll pass your message onto Chris. Chris,
let me know whether everything's good to go.

Denver Zine Fest: I paid for a two full tables to date, but they
won't let us get as many tables as I originally hoped and we can't
bring our own tables -- we must rent ($5 per half table). If anyone
else is interested, they'll rent each person a 1/2 table, so we may be
able to get more space for those who want it. Let me know and I'll
make sure they've still got floorspace. Saturday, May 31st from 10 am
- 6 pm at the First Unitarian Church at 14th & Lafayette in Denver.

May catalog update: So far, our new offerings include

Features: Social Morality by Meredith Funk -- Now offering a free
bumper sticker and free mini-comic, "10 Things I Hate About My Job"
with each book.

Reviews: REVVVelations: 3/20/08 "It's the little things that make it
work" Steve Parkes, Independent Propaganda

Events: In addition to what we had in the February update: May -
Denver Zine Fest, June - Wizard World Chicago, and it's probably too
late to add the CAI Annual Show to the update, but I'll put it on the
site once one of us has officially submitted and been accepted to the
show.

Webcomics: The relaunch of REVVVelations.

Okay, let me know if there's anything else I need to add to this asap.

NDK: Yes, it's in September, but if we plan soon, we'll get better
panel slots. Who wants to be on the following panels: Pitching your
comic to publishers, 24 Hour Comic Challenge Panel, Creating comics on
the computer, Webcomics, Making mini-comic stories. Right now, I know
I could do all of the above, Tanya has committed to doing the last
three and the 24 Hour Comics Challenge panel, and Josh is interested
in participating in one or more. Ozzy could do the first two. John,
Al, Michael, and Craig had expressed an interest participating in one
or more as well, although Al and Michael may already have badges. We
can get up to 6 badges for our table if each of these people are
involved in no less than 4 hours of panels/programming. Everyone else
wil have to buy a badge. Right now, 2 of our 6 badges are committed
(me and Tanya).

Wowio: We've officially voted to offer our comic books via Wowio.com.
I just got the contract which I'll be looking over to send back to
them. After that, we can provide free downloads of our work through
their site in exchange for $0.25 (less 20% Squid tax) per download.
So, another revenue source for us! We'll need to transition, since I
can't scan every book in our catalog, so I'll figure out what the
requirements are and I'll leave it up to those of you who are in our
catalog or want to be in our catalog do all the pre-press for me, and
I'll upload the work.

That's it for now. I hate doing formal stuff at our meeting, but
perhaps it's in order, at least for our steering committee. Speaking
of which, Steering Committee should meet at noon, prior to the formal
Squid Meeting so we can hash some of this out. If there's anything
remaining that we need to discuss with the entire group, we'll do
that. But, please don't hesitate to ask me or any of the other SC
members questions if you have any!

Thanks!

Stan Yan
Steering Committee Member
