Header: Squid Works meeting reminder / 24 Hour Comics warm-up
Bulletin: First of all, apologies to all of you who are outside of Colorado -- I hate blasting all of you.

Onto the message:

Just a friendly reminder of our monthly meeting that we'll be happily combining with a little warm-up session for next weekend's 5th Annual 24 Hour Comics Challenge. The meeting is this Sunday, October 12th from 1 - 4 pm at Enchanted Grounds at 8800 S. Colorado Blvd. in Highlands Ranch. 303-470-1010. Not only veterans of this challenge be present to provide their insights on what makes for a successful or unsuccessful approach to doing the challenge, I'll also be moderating a little Improv Cartooning to get your brain and hand warmed up for spontaneous creation with time constraints. Oh, and in case you haven't had a chance to register for the event, bring me your registration fee and waiver at the meeting. Here's all the info:

The 5th Annual Denver 24 Hour Comics Challenge is Saturday, October 18, 2007, from 2 pm to 2 pm at Enchanted Grounds at 8800 South Colorado Boulevard in Highlands Ranch, we've already filled over 1/3 of the slots and Westword will be running an article on the event, so don't drag your feet. More information on registering and sponsorship is available at www.squidworks.com/Events/2008d24hcc.html. Happily, we're seeing more folks participating in the story premise exchange this year, so it should be a fun time.

Other items on the agenda:

1) I've agreed to volunteer our group to judge "The Superhero Project", where kids create their own superheroes. So, if you're interested, we'll be sitting down with a bunch of entries and as a committee decide which ones we like the best. Winner gets great prizes, including probably taking my Summer Camp at ASLD and having their superhero included in a stage production by a local theater group.

2) Payment! I owe some of you some money for sales, including, John Peters, Ron Ruelle, and Will Barnes.

3) Finally, a group of you including, Paul Niemiec, Dan Crosier, Ron Ruelle, John Peters, Lonnie Allen, Amy Hadley, and John Porcellino have had previously expressed an interest in showing work at a December show at the Curtis Arts Center in Greenwood Village. Well, it's finally coming around. Here's what we know: The show will be up from December 17th - January 2nd. Set-up will be December 15th. A reminder that the work displayed needs to be free of politics, profanity, or pornography -- it's an all-ages show. Pieces need to be framed with a wire hanger. The opening will be Saturday, December 20th from 10 - 2 pm, featuring "free form cartooning" where those of us who volunteered to work with kids simply need to go around and help kids with their drawings. I'm still trying to find details out on how many pieces she wants us to put up, but I DO know that I need each of you to e-mail me sample image files from work you plan to show along with a written bio so Jo will have it for the advertisments. I don't have a deadline yet, but the sooner the better. Thanks!

4) Reminder, if you want to put anything into the catalog for the November Quarterly update, please announce your intention to submit by Sunday. I'll be able to get you all the required stuff between now and the end of the month and figure out how to get your stuff on consignment from you. Right now, I think it's just the SubCulture TPB and Lonnie's Navel Gazer that we have as features, and I still need a catalog submisson form from Lonnie on that book and consignment copies.

5)Anything else you want to add to the agenda? Bring it!
