Not particularly, but one of our members Stan Yan is illustrating a mini-series for Ape Entertainment called "SubCulture" that would definitely resonate with fans of Batman and other mainstream titles and with those who love them (the fans). Check out some sample pages at www.subculturecomic.com. Issue 1 is coming to February Previews.

Hi there! We’re starting up this year’s Small Press Idol…and wanted to invite you to the grand unveiling of this year’s Guidelines. I apologize for the all-in-one nature of this. At this time, individuals and teams have a little over a month to get things together and be ready to post their Round 1 entries. Round 1 will last till March 25th. It’s a solid window to get a project together and qualified for Round 2 past our judge panel. If you are interested in being a contestant, this is fair warning to get a project going!
If you are a news outlet or resource of any sort, we invite you to help spread the word about Small Press Idol, and get on the official Sponsors and Supporters list on the Idol Main Page. Traditionally, the page has gotten hundreds of thousands of hits a month for the 5 months the contest runs. All we ask in return for the link placement on our prominently placed list, is a link back in some way that is fairly prominent, and that you indeed cover the contest if you are a news site. You can contact us about that right from the guidelines page.
Just want to watch the show? That’s great! Now is time to sign up at the site so you can VOTE in the rounds to come, and post comments about your favorites! We’re expecting hundreds of contestants this year. It should be a lot of fun!

/Idol07/index.html

Hope this message reaches you in the spirit it was intended, you are welcome to ask questions, and otherwise make sure this is for real. This is the fourth year for the SPI. Last year’s contest pages are still online. So that’s what this is about, hope it interests you!

It's always better to be comic addicted than comically challenged.

Colorado comic artists gotta stick together, right? ...at least as well as winter weather and poor road maintainance allow.

I always thought so... power in numbers I say. Perhaps we're just a support group for comic-addicted personalities.

wow, there are other people from Colorado on the internet? I am truly stunned. And how about this snow? I'd have cabin fever right now if it weren't for the internet.

anyway, I checked out your site. Keep up the good work!

Heh... not so stunning that people from Colorado are on the internet, but our willingness to wear it as a badge of honor... it's not something that we normally volunteer publically, since we haven't historically had a reputation for being a center of arts and creativity.

[ Posted by Unchow on Jan 1st, 2007 1:15 PM ]...

well it sounds like you're working on changing that. so...hurry up!

[ Posted by SquidWorks on Jan 1st, 2007 2:57 PM ]...

Yes, certainly we're trying to be a part of that. I also don't have any illusions either ;)

Hello from the other side of the state! Enough snow over there? :p It's bone dry here, but still cold. Thanks for the add!

Definitely enough snow, but we really dodged the bullet on the second storm. In my neigborhood, the first storm dropped 28" but the second only 6".

Why thank you much :) I use Photoshop almost chiefly. Some of my work is scanned pencil line-art and colored in Photoshop.

Monthly meeting eh? Whereabouts?

We meet almost every second Sunday of the month at Common Grounds at 32nd and Lowell in Denver from 1 - 4 pm. I post meetings and events at www.squidworks.com/events.html. I'll be missing the next meeting, but it'll still be going on.

Hey, Stan! Thanks for being my friend...
Remember doing the -big- Supergirl for me at Majesticon a year or so ago?
We need to keep promoting Colorado comics professionals (and amateurs, too)!

Hey, Bruce. I can't say I remeber doing that, but I'm getting to the point that I can't remember all of the sketches that I do. I'm glad you liked it though. Stop by and visit me the next Majesticon!

Nice to see you up here as well. I'll have to take some time and peruse the member list and see what other old aquaintances are lurking here.
