Stan Yan grew up in Denver, Colorado and went to school at the University of Colorado in Boulder where he got his bachelor’s degree in accounting. Due to the lack of sex-for-recruiting for accounting students, Yan’s life took the tragic turn into sales for the securities industry, where he wallowed in ethical poverty on-and-off for thirteen years. Yan takes his frustrations out by penning graphic novels such as The Wang. For the last two years, Yan has given up on financial security and become a full-time freelance cartoonist, illustrating SubCulture for Ape Entertaiment, creating comic strips for the financial and sales industry, and picking up odd illustration and teaching jobs when folks are feeling agonizing pity for him. Do your conscience a favor and hire him. You can find him at squidworks.com/Stan

New Free Webcomics

SubCulture by Kevin Freeman and Stan Yan – Stan and Kevin have been working hard on new strips, and they are tickled to announce that the first new strip will launch February 26th, and new strips will follow every Tuesday and Friday. In preparation, the first six promotional strips, done last summer, will be rerun and serve as the first in what we hope to be a long, continuous streak of new material. Mature.

The Wang by Stan Yan - Borne from the characters from the critically-acclaimed and provocative graphic novel series, this new weekly strip views current and universal social, political and human issues through the eyes of The Wang’s relationally dysfunctional cast. Mature.

Very cool! I won't be there until probably 8 pm or 8:30 because of a prior commitment, but I look forward to meeting you in person! I look like the guy on my business card / avatar (but not zombified)

Dang, Stan... I have an inlaw that is having a B-day, so I may not be able to make it down. If I can't make it down tonight, I'll have to try for a Squidworks meet. Eitherway, 'hope to meet up soon!

RE: My 24 Hour Comic is now online!

Very cool, Stan! I was riveted. It makes me want to visit Hawaii, steal a rock, and see what happens.

Thanks!

I'm glad you enjoyed it. I had no idea whether or not I put in too many inside jokes for my family for it to be entertaining. I WOULD highly recommend visiting and having someone like Chuck take you to all the great places that the tour buses don't go to and all the restaurants that are the local faves.
