Steve Bialik is the creator of Minister Jade, an upcoming graphic novel from Cellar Door Publishing

"Darkness has fallen over imperial China. As if being conquered by the Mongol hordes of Khubilai Khan wasn't enough, now the Middle Kingdom must contend with a demonic cult on a mission of ultimate destruction. With the help of a mad druggist and his arsenal of unholy elixirs the Midnight Lotus Society aims to wipe China off the medieval map. But China is about to counter with a weapon of her own--The Flying Fist of Fujian! The Sentinel of the Seven Min! Minister Jade!"

About the auteur:

Steve is over 6 feet tall but wears the same length pants as his mother, who is most assuredly not over 6 feet tall. Steve believes his stunted, gorilla-like legs give him an advantage in the creative jungle. But mostly they just make him look apey.

[ Posted by johnculjak on Dec 14th, 2006 4:36 PM ]...

Hey Steve, how you doing? Listen, I'd like to start off this essay with a little bit of clarification. First off, everyone's comments on your page sucked. Every. Last. One of them. You should be ashamed that you know these people. Second, this essay will touch upon various time periods, from the late crustaceous, to the early art nuveau period in American entertainment, please, enjoy.

There's a saying in Alabama that goes something like this, "I once walked over a dog, he bit me on the heel." That quote was from the auspicious Winston Churchill as he addressed a choir of South African choir boys on his tour through Bangladesh. He was a gentleman of few words and quite senile in his later years. The quote is meant to illustrate the vast differences between the industrious north and the agricultural south. From boat production to slave trading and then the jazz era, no venue is so proud of it's history than the hole in the wall mexican taco stand.

The mexican taco stand is a staple crop of ghettos and fringe arrogant artists in the pacific south west. Often times, many up and coming modern painters feel the need to use folded food items for inspiration in their drawing. The fault in their actions stem from the fact that they tend to eat standing up, something that is frowned upon with the taco. The proper position to eat a taco is infact, much to the charign of Japanese people, to consume it lying on one's back, on the sofa, with their head dangling over the side and feet propped against the wall. This allows the food to stay in the stomach region, instead of barreling foward into the large intestines, which is the favored route of partially cooked foods such as the mexican taco. This allows the consumer to partake in many tacos, and not have to relieve their bowels for the good part of 3 and one half hours.

Toilets have changed drastically over time. In the crustacious era, toilets resembled large ponds. Giant dinosaurs would relieve themselves in these ponds, much to the dismay of smaller, slower dinosaurs, who would have feces fall on their head, often times at 300 pound intervals. As time progressed, people as well as animals found better accomodations. For instance, cats are now completely trained to use the facilities all by themselves, though their master still needs to flush. Like the circle of life, though, infants deficate in portable toilets, and as they reach the end of their life, begin this ritual again with the release of feces into small outposts called bedpans. These individuals have amased small fortunes, so they are able to acquire bed pans encrusted with jewels, diamonds, and sometimes, fecal matter that was not properly washed off by their immigrant nurses, who are the majority of the time, in the country illegally.

Immigration is a hot topic issue in today's media. The use of illegal immigrants, while beneficial to the employer, has been known to make residents of southern mountain towns grown angry and annoyed. Though these individuals do not have a desire for the jobs taken by the illegal immigrants, they feel it is their right to use what limited vocabulary they have to tell onlookers how darker skinned individuals are taking their jobs, and succinctly, their livelihoods. Many of these indiginous peoples have had to turn to waiting for hours on end outside of large commerical chain stores to acquire ps3's to sell on eBay. Some proceed to take pictures of their overweight pregnant wives to showcase the purchase that they have made.

While the current political climate makes it difficult for chinese immigrants to start their dreams of owning a taco stand, all is not lost. In the great country of Canada, many opportunities arrive daily. From tree logging to pelt hunting, the descendents of the native peoples shine brightly in the youth of today.
