I'm another one of the "once upon a time"-comics artists that would like to re-integrate himself into the biz. I'm best known for pencilling DEATHSTROKE THE TERMINATOR for DC Comics back in the '90s and CHECKMATE! (the original run) in the '80s. I've also done a nice selection of STAR TREK work, touching on every STAR TREK series except ST:VOYAGER. Memory-Alpha.org has a complete checklist: http://memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Steve_Erwin

For those who wonder where the hell I went, I was one of the art monkeys shaken out of the creative tree when the comics market crashed back in '95-96. Having a family to support, I couldn't hang in there until work re-appeared, so I made the lateral move into Art Direction. Pays better but not as fun.

Today, I do The Freelance Shuffle: illustration, production art, storyboards, or whatever work comes my way.

I still like comics as a medium, though I think too much time has passed me by to enjoy what passes for superhero comics today. Too dark. Too violent. Too pretentious. But maybe that's just me.

In 2007, I was honored by The Oklahoma Cartoonists Collection by induction into the Oklahoma Cartoonists Hall of Fame, housed in the Toy & Action Figure Museum in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. Who knew being from Oklahoma could lead to something so cool?

I'm interested in self-publishing a book, either a graphic novel or limited series of an historical nature. Before anyone writes, I am not looking for a writer or creative partner; I have that under control. However, if you've walked that trail before and can offer business-end advice, I'd love to hear from you.

Or for that matter, if you just wanna talk comics, send me a line.

ComicSpace is now my official comics display site. I'll be uploading material over time, so check in once in a while.

Fond, fond memories...for some reason, every time I pass thru Waco and drive past the Elite Cafe I get flashbacks. I love your website, by the way. Nice stuff.
