My son is a Cub Scout in the midst of a fundraiser (who isn't this time of year, right?) and I thought I'd help him out in my own special way.

The Boy Scouts' main fundraiser for the year is selling Trail's End popcorn -- not the notoriety of Girl Scout cookies, but it's healthier for you.

The obvious drawback in trying to sell directly online is the cost of shipping the product. Trail's End has made that a little easier: A $25 donation buys popcorn for The Troops overseas (distributed by the organization Support Our Troops®).

Here is my limited-time offer:

Mail a check to me for $25 with a 41-cent stamp and I will mail you back a pen & ink Post Card-size illustration of the comics character of your choice. (The check must be made payable to PACK 320, annotated with "Military Popcorn" on the "For" line on the bottom of your check.) Be sure to include your return mailing address!

The deadline for this offer is October 22. Please email me when you drop your check in the mail so that I will know it's coming. I would also appreciate a heads-up about what character you'll want on your post card. I will send an immediate reply confirming your email and a notice of your check's arrival.

Turnaround time for your artwork will depend on how many cards I have to draw, which will be done in the order I receive the checks. The Post Card art (approx. 4" x 6") will be mailed in an envelope, by the way, not as actual post cards. You will also receive an official Thank You reply card for your contribution.
