So, my wife needs help getting some things from her car on Monday, May 16th, so I go down to the garage to grab what's left in the trunk and as I'm waking out I notice it... At first, I think my wife just moved some things around in the garage. But that's not the case.

My comic book collection. Over half of it - MISSING! A lifetime of collecting. We're talking John Byrne's X-Men, Frank Miller's Daredevil and Batman, all my trades... Gone. ALL OF THEM.

Someone had stolen from me.

An autographed Art of Hellboy with an original Hellboy headshot drawn by his creator, Mike Mignola.

All my autographed books, a lot of which were personalized to me - like my “Judas Contract” Teen Titan issues signed by Marv Wolfman, Star Trek comics signed by Majel Barret Rodenberry.

The icing on the crap cake? My renter's insurace ony wants to cover $2,500. And, get this, we get to pay a $500 deductabe for this coverage, to boot. Mind you, we informed them that there was about $8,000 or more in comics.
They tell us after the fact that WE should've requested an insurance rider.

WE should've.

Excuse me?

Isn't that YOUR job?

Shouldn't YOU see the values that we're reporting and, I don't know, freakin' SUGGEST IT as part of YOUR REASON FOR BEING OUR INSURANCE AGENT...?!?

Damn, my Alan Moore Miracleman issues.
The Neil Gaimen Miracleman issues.
A signed Cerebus by Dave Sim.
A bunch of early Image books signed by various creators.
My Savage Dragon books signed by Erik Larsen.
Jim Lee X-Men/Wildcats signed books.
Joe Quesada signed books from his Valiant days and early DC work.
All my convention previews and sketchbooks.
Some original art.

All gone.

And the stuff that was personalized "To Steve..." is probably in the bottom of some dumpster somewhere - as they couldn't exactly try to sell those.

I want to cry and scream and hit something.

People suck... why would someone do this..?
