Hey, welcome to my “ComicSpace” page. What a great idea! (thanks, Josh!) A little about ‘creds’… My latest project is a monster 182-page manga for Tokyopop called Battle of the Bands—It is NOW ON SALE!!! I hope you will hunt it down and BUY IT! If you do, drop me a note--I need some feedback, people! Muchos gracias. Also due out sometime this fall is a graphic novel biography of Ronald Reagan written by Andy Helfer. I drew the first half of the book, the amazing Joe Staton is doing the second. Past projects are varied in so many ways. I first became a pro back in the late eighties, working on staff at Marvel. Jobs there included a summer as John Romita’s personal assistant and a couple of years working in the Epic Comics division for the late, great Archie Goodwin. I had the pleasure of working on some great projects like the Moebius Graphic Novels, Alien Legion, Elektra: Assassin, Havok/Wolverine and Groo The Wanderer. Before I quit to become a freelance artist (a month before Archie left), I was editing the "Shadowline Saga" line of books—at that point I was only about 20 (yeesh! I’m dating myself!). The coolest thing about Epic was the diversity of books and talent. I was lucky to meet so many great creators--both old-school "legends" and innovative newcomers who have since become legends themselves. As a freelance artist, I drew a few stories for Marvel (most notibly, some issues of Power Pack, Excalibur and an issue of Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventures), but mostly I made my living as a colorist. In the mid-nineties, I was one of the pioneers of digital coloring and started the short-lived Electric Crayon Productions with fellow Ex-Marvel Staffer, Marc Siry. At EC and afterwards, I worked on a zillion titles for most of the major comics publishers. I even won a Wizard Fan Award for my work on Uncanny X-Men. Other titles you may have heard of are Generation X, Hulk, Ultimate Spider-Man, Tangled Web of Spider-Man, Daredevil, Fantastic Four, Batman: Death and the Maidens, Classic Star Wars, Kurt Busiek’s Astro City, Spider-Man: Blue, Wolverine, and Manhunter just to name a few. In recent years, I have been working at moving away from coloring and doing what I always intended to do: write & draw! My first “break” was when I created Weasel Guy, which was published by Karl Altstaetter at Hyperwerks & Image Comics. Weasel Guy was a character I first created in High School, but re-worked into a new concept. His first stand-alone story was the Weasel Guy / Witchblade: One Shot! where he teamed up with the popular Top Cow heroine. This was spun-off into a series, Weasel Guy: Road Trip that, unfortunately, only ran 2 issues. Luckily, Weasel Guy didn't die right there. Soon after it was cancelled, I had the opportuntiy to bring back some of the characters in a self-published book of my own. At that time, I was sharing a studio ( Mad Science Media) with some pals, and together we put out an anthology magazine called Comiculture (still available!). The full-color magazine was very well received, but had limited distribution, and again only lasted 2 issues. We followed up with the graphic novel, Comiculture Anthology (also still available!), and hope to publish more someday. Since then, and before starting the manga book, I’ve been drawing some magazine illustrations and in 2005 I drew a 2-issue western series for Moonstone called Belle Starr, written by Mark Ricketts. ZEN GIRL & GUN GAL in: Reptile Rants
Zen Girl & Gun Gal, the world's most unlikely superhero duo, first appeared in the Weasel Guy/Witchblade one-shot in 1998. This story appeared in Comiculture in 2002--the first spin-off in the extended Weasel Guy Universe!

It remains to be seen how this website will work out. Once the art & blog features work, it might be a good way to network and show off new projects. Or not! Anywho, I'm curiooous to see. This is at least a more 'focused' group than MySpace. |

Stevie Bwah!!!
Wassup oh great master of the pallet of light (I7,000 to 4,000 angstroms, or 4.3 x 10/14 - 7.5 x 10/14 hz, or 2 - 3 eV)? (I know, I know, you are more than that... I just happen to think you and a few folks at OlyOptics and Dig Cham are the tops in the field, babe!)
