Those DANTE illustrations are absolutely spectacular. Your stuff has got it all- powerful design and exquisite rendering.

Yo Shannon, yo: Is there going to be a dvd of the opera?

I don't know about a dvd of the opera. I have mixed feelings. I hate opera on tv - it's brings out the worst of both worlds. I'd like to do a cd and maybe animate it.

Your comic with Bill is good and yet I do not understand a single popular-culture reference you make in it. Therefore, I am old. Old.

"My comic about polar bears"

This is all anyone needs to read to know they should seek out your work.

Ha ha. You're in Seattle having a good time with librarians and I'm here in Portland where the cat is biting my foot hard enough to draw blood. Now who's winning?

None of this is acceptable. All of you people get back to work.

Is the new papercutter available at Reading Frenzy yet?

Hey, Papercutter #3 (which I had at Stumptown) is at Reading Frenzy. Papercutter #4 is just about ready to go to the printer. Gulp.

Josh:

I no longer do anything except look at comicspace pages and get weird-ass messages from my wife and Jeff Parker, neither of whom do anything themselves but look at comicspace. This is your fault.

Why is that a problem? I wish my wife would send me weird-ass messages.

I'll say it. You just wacky! Wacky!

Also, I have your glasses.

If and when it happens, I will anounce it when i sign the contract.

[ Posted by stevelieber to randylander on Dec 10th, 2006 7:03 PM ]...

Hey Randy! Thanks for asking about FLYTRAP. I've let myself get too backed up with other (read as "paying") commitments, so Sara's started talking to a couple of other artists, both of whom are more than capable of filling my pencil-monkey role.

I could flatter myself and wish it otherwise, but I think this is actually a good thing. The industry, being what it is, was largely inclined to see her as an extension of my career, rather than a first-rate storyteller in her own right. Working with artists to whom she's, like, not married should help change that.

Cool... would love to see more, as I've really enjoyed Sara's writing on the projects y'all have done together.

Missed you at San Diego this last year... hope to see you at a Con sometime in '07.

You know, one of these days someone with a camera is going to catch you accidentally not making a goofy face.

E: Just read Night Visit. Good stuff- your two sensibilities combine to produce one clear, unified narrative voice, and that's the essence of a good collaboration.

I hope no one ever decides that the obbsessive compulsion to produce thoughtful, compelling, and immaculate work constitutes a disorder.
