| Bulletin: | What part of "keeping in touch on a regular basis" or "networking" do people NOT understand? In ComicSpace, it seems to be a "collect 'em all" mentality, where someone can say "I have (Big Name ArtGod) on my friend's list". My take is "Hokay...so has BNAG gotcha workin' f'r DC or Marvel yet?" It's not my goal to pad my "friends" list with hundreds of names in the pretense that I know that person. My list has less than a handful of friends, yet these friends do occasionally stay in touch in other formats such as email, Friends_of_Addlesee, deviantART or Fur Affinity. People here need to read and comprehend the meaning of the term "friend" BEFORE they start adding other people as such. I'm all about network. Penciller needs a good inker, I'm there. Old acquaintance wants to hook up, I'm there. I just don't have time or patience to collect 'em all. Awhile back I had 24 on my "friends list" that couldn't be bothered to associate with me (and some of them were people I was acquainted with or worked with years ago), so I unloaded 20 of them. Not ONE of them even came at me with "what's the big idea?!" If anything I get "heyhow'sitgoin'haven'tseenyainyearsweoughtagettogetherbutIcan'trightn owmaybelaterseeya". Now, when someone approaches me to "befriend" me, they'll need to PROVE they're worth befriending. If they intend to associate with me on a regular basis, or network with me in a prompt, professional and reliable manner, then I'll consider making the befriendication mutual. |
