April 22nd
As I'm currently reading the Uncanny X-Men Omnibus, I've had a look at a couple of the fan-letters that were published back in the day, and I've realised something... they bitch about EXACTLY the same things people do on internet forums this day and age. Mar. (something)th. Felt like a Thursday Elephantmen #7. It's basically Hip Flask telling a fairy tale (with pirates!) to a little girl. Could easily be read as a oneshot by anyone not invested in the series. Elephantmen is usually kept in urban tones, dark and gritty,, so this issue stands out like a color-gasm. Loved it - and I'm not American, so I only use that word when I mean it ;-) Jan. 27th Just read "The Damned" #1... and it was really, really good! Everyone should find something in it to catch their interest, whether it be organised crime, demons, or film noir. So get up and go out and buy an issue! What do you say? It's cold and dark outside and the comic shops are closed? Get your coat and go out there anyway, break in, get your copy, and leave 3.50$ on the counter. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Hobby: Telling little children how "the Little Mermaid" really ended Books that people ought to read: Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell Comic that I'm currently reading: Fantastic Four vol. 1 Omnibus Hello, my name is Heine and I've been a geek for 28 years. I've been into comics ever since I as a little boy found a comic in my grandma's house. It was a black and white story in which a mobster was almost boiled alive by his girlfriend. Since then I've been hooked. It's only in the recent years that I've actively begun collecting, though. Comic geeks are a rare breed where I come from, so it's a blessing that I have a wide variety of podcasts to listen to while I work.I'd recommend the following. Would it be fitting to call this the grandfather of comic podcasts? They are certainly the most productive podcast around. http://www.comicgeekspeak.com For committed DC love and extremely in-depth reviews, listen to: http://www.ragingbullets.com A Chicoago based comic book roundtable, with news and discussions about comics of any stripe. http://www.aroundcomics.com Possibly the craziest - in a good way - comic podcast out there. No one can deny the ka-nowledge and devotion of Mr. Phil and Charlito when it comes to the topic of their podcast - indie comics of every stripe. They make me read more indie comics. http://www.indiespinnerrack.com The Comic Book conversation show. The podcast for interviews with comic book creators, listen to John Siuntres at: http://www.wordballoon.com 3 people discussing the comics of the week - as well as whatever pop-culture related topic they come to think of. http://www.ifanboy.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- Library in the making (May 3rd) ![]() |
