Any way, I am a huge fan of independent comic-books(especially action/superhero/horror stuff) and do not much care much for Marvel. Their insatiable greed in the 1990s is primarily what drove the industry to the brink of extinction. And the more popular they became, the less interesting they got. At one point in the 90s they were down to Peter David and George Perez and a whole slew of hacks and amateurish scribblers churning out crappy books with variant gimmick covers. Faust: Love of the Damned is one of my favorite books of all time. Remains the best written and drawn action-horror book ever produced. I was a fan of Tim Vigil from the time that Grips hit the shelves. I am also a big fan of such books as Dark Wolf(Marvelously under-appreciated comic-book), The Justice Machine(Primarily through Tony Isabella's Comico run(but not his Innovation crap) but also enjoyed Ellis and Banks' stuff), Most of what Aircel put out including Maelstrom, Samurai, Dragonring/Dragonforce, etc. and a lot of what Malibu/Eternity churned out. Roachmill(Blackthorne and later Dark Horse) was another of my favorites. |
