Bulletin: The first issue of “Omega Chase,” a sci-fi mash-up of Zombies and the Old West, appeared in Wednesday’s Diamond Previews and its publisher, Th3rd World Studios, is doing its best to accommodate retailers.

“We know we are a new company and it’s hard for stores to take a chance and place orders with us,” Th3rd World Studios Co-Publisher Mike DeVito said. “That’s why we are making all of our titles returnable. Any issues of ‘Omega Chase’ not purchased within four months of its release date, Th3rd World will buy back for a substantial percentage of the cover price.”

To return back issues, a store would just need to cover the shipping costs needed to mail the books to the Th3rd World Studios offices in Ocean City, MD. Once the books are received, a check will be sent to the retailer.

“It’s a risk to start a new publishing company,” DeVito said. “It takes money, time, and commitment. But it’s just as much as a risk for a store to order a title from an unproven publisher. That’s why we are willing to absorb some of the costs if a store orders copies of ‘Omega Chase’ and they don’t sell. Maybe we are naïve, but we think once readers hold the book in their hands; they won’t be able to stop themselves from buying it.”

The next step that Th3rd World is taking to please retailers is offering an exclusive online preview of the first two issues of “Omega Chase.”

“In about a week, we will launch a password protected section of our site that will allow retailers to view the first two full issues of ‘Omega Chase,’” DeVito said. “We are doing this because we feel for a store to invest in our product, they deserve to know exactly what they are getting.”

More details on how a retailer can view the first two issues of “Omega Chase” will be announced next week or you may contact via their website. Volume one of the series will consist of four full color issues. If the readers demand it, Th3rd World is already prepared to begin production on volume two of the series.

“The final thing we are doing for stores is something we’ve already done,” DeVito said. “Before we submitted to Diamond, we made sure all four issues of the limited series were completely finished. This way, unless Diamond decides to schedule us differently, we can guarantee the books will be monthly without delays. We may be a small publisher and never expect to reach the numbers of the Big Two, but at the very least we can be professional and have our books ship on time.”
