You're probably wondering why I called you all here ... I live in sunny Black Springs in the not so tropical state of New South Wales in the sun-burnt country of Australia. Ok, now that we've played 'Google Earth' a little about me. I got hit with the comic bug at age 5 & wanted to write comics more than anything. I've been writing comics pretty much all my life. 25 years ago my first Graphic Novel 'The Dynamic Dark Nebula' debuted Down Under & surprisingly has been regarded by some as a pivotal point in Australian Comics History, the start of the new wave of comics. For the uninitiated The Dark Nebula is my salute to the best in Superhero adventures - oddly enough it glides between Superhero to Sci-Fi & the Supernatural with uncanny ease. It has never been available outside Australia - till now. Over the next decade I continued releasing The Dark Nebula, through Cyclone! Australia & then again in its own title before taking a break to focus on my career in broadcasting as well as family. Over 4 years ago I was nearly killed in a car accident (with a horse) & that was the opportunity to lay out the groundwork for re-releasing the Dark Nebula, but this time on-line & in colour. In October 2006 www.thedarknebula.com hit the ground running & I'm proud to say I am continuing to colour my massive quantity of inventory material. It's my desire to release the inventory in a collected edition, on disc, in soft-cover & hard-cover (wouldn't a Dark Nebula archive be really cool?). I'm presently working on several fronts, colouring the inventory material well ahead of time, as well as proceeding with work on new material which will hit the website in 12 months time. Apart from the continued adventures of Dark Nebula, the website will also run my other feature 'The Golden Age Southern Cross', as well as key stories from Dave de Vries' famed 'Southern Squadron'. I'm writing better than ever & stories that I held back over the 15 year period will be all the better for it, as well as vibrant new stories I've conceived over the past few months. I'm not that big on blowing my own trumpet - I'd rather let my work speak for itself. Check out the website & see for yourself. I just don't enjoy new mainstream comics anymore but i find i get the same joy I used to get in reading by writing fresh, exciting material. When I'm not writing, colouring, doing the odd spot illo (yes, I still draw) I'm watching DVDs, studying other artists techniques, listning to great music, 4WDriving, & even the odd spot of model railroading. Anyone wishing to interview me or write a review on my comic for a legitimate comics-related fan magazine or web-site, drop me a line at tad.p@thedarknebula.com. Presently it's just me & my hound on the farm - & yes ladies I'm single (wow, what a catch - lol!) As they say, see you in the funny papers! Cheers, Tad

when u use photoshop, is there a way to get rid of the paper background when i scan my image so i can just paint bucket my drawings. Also, is there a way to edit the image so the blackening i did with ink will appear as a solid black color. One more thing, can i do this with gimp. |

Allow me to thank you for the add! Sorry that you had to wait so long, I was still figuring this site out.
EDIT: Ok, now I have, mostly out of curiosity, read the whole Dark Nebula saga that's online through. And I'm so baffled that I can only say... Awesome. This is truly one of the best Superhero/Sci-Fi/Supernatural stories that I've ever had the chance to read! I see greater things yet to come for you, pal, and I hope that this tale will inspire me to accomplish great things as well, in my own hobby as an amateur writer. 1 Reply [ Latest posted on March 25th, 2008 2:08 AM ]

Hi, thanks for the kind words. I use Photoshop for colouring on the computer. The inking is done by the artist on the actual pages. Hope that helps. Cheers. Tad. |
