How's it going, I'm Mark and I draw crap for a living .... it beats having a real job and every day is "pants optional". I spent 13 years living in NYC and now 2 plus years back home in my native Massachusetts with my wife and 2 kids, drawing illos for such rags as The New York Press, Miami New Times, Cleveland Scene, Dallas Observer, River Front Times (St. Louis), Sports Illustrated for KIDS and a bunch of others, as well as drawing my weekly comic The Thinking Ape Blues, now in it's 6th year of glorious wasted time and space. Recently in the Ted Rall edited anthology ATTITUDE 3: The New Subversive Online Cartoonists.
![]() Described as: think·ing ape blues 'think-'ing-âp-'-blüz n 1: a crippling affliction effecting the human condition in which man (homo sapien) feels trapped between primal urges and civilized manner, and/or primitive rage against a reality he can't understand and a placating logical outlook that tries to make sense of all the bulls***, religion, philisophical authority, dogmatic d***-heads and socially retarded jerk-offs constantly raining a s***-storm down on his beer-soaked mind 2: a self syndicated weekly comic strip by Mark Poutenis, featuring the three Bros. Progress; Abe (the oldest brother, simian), Ben (the middle brother, sapien) and Carl (the youngest, robotic) in a time and place familiar, yet as foreign as Mars. Currently runs in The Boston Weekly Dig and The New York Waste. Has been dumped unceremoniously from such papers as The Phoenix New Times, The Cleveland Scene, The Hartford Advocate, The New Haven Advocate, The Valley Advocate, The Fairfield County Weekly and The Charleston City Paper. Contains no redeemable social or nutritional value whatsoever, a comic of questionable taste. I used to be the Art Director for SCREW Magazine back in the late 90's. I'm not proud. thinking_ape_blues's BulletinsDisplaying 1-5 of 5 bulletins...
