Okay, here we go…

I'm Thom Zahler, cartoonist, writer, artist, letterer, bon vivant. I'm graduated the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art, a kind of artistic boot camp, and have been working as an artist ever since. Five years ago, I quit working for The Man and went out on my own full-time, and never looked back.

Along the way, I've worked for a diverse bunch of companies, including Marvel Comics, Image Comics, Warner International Publishing, Lone Star Press and Claypool in the comics field. Outside of comics, I'm a successful cartoonist, illustrator, logo and web designer, having worked for Prilosec, The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Scene Magazine, the Fort Worth Weekly and many, many more. Along the way I've won some awards, both local and national, including the Cleveland Press Club Award and the national Society for Marketing Professional Services award.

I've published a few books along the way. Most recently, I've been the writer/artist/everything else on the critically acclaimed Love and Capes, the heroically super situation comedy, featuring the Crusader and his girlfriend Abby. The series tackles the tough questions: When do you tell your girlfriend you wear a cape? Is there ever a good time to tell your girlfriend you have X-Ray Vision? What do you get your girlfriend for Christmas when she knows you can crush coal into diamonds? It's a great book, and the thing I'm currently most proud of.

You can read some of the first book as a webstrip at http://www.loveandcapes.com/. Check it out, you'll be glad you did!

I also wrote and drew the Raider series, an action-adventure spy book in the same vein as Alias and The Pretender. That one's available here: http://www.raidercomic.com.

I keep a blog pretty regularly, posting a lot of art there before anywhere else, including panels from the third Love and Capes at http://www.thomz.com/wordpress. And my main site, with a pretty good smattering of what I do, is at http://www.thomz.com.

I'll be chatting and posting here, and you can always reach me via e-mail at tz@thomz.com.

Thanks for the add. I've met you several times at MegaCon in Orlando! Will you be there this year?

Bobby--

I've got a space there, but I might wind up cancelling this year. The deadline for the fourth issue of Love and Capes (which I have to start immediately after I finish #3 sometime next week) is really kicking my butt this year.

Thom,

Thanks for the add, sir. We met at Baltimore Comicon, I believe, years ago. Please drop me a line if you're interested in doing a Q&A about Love and Capes.

Hey Thom! Thanks for the add. I'm enjoying Love and Capes quite bit. Nice job on that.

I hope your past tense usage ("wrote and drew") in the Raider mention in your content area is not to infer that the series is ... over? Is it?

Happy Holidays!

I suppose it's past tense in the "Oh, Lord, I can't think about doing Raider AND Love and Capes". I'm hoping to get enough of a Name from LnC that I can bring back Raider well at some point.

Love and Capes is an easy sell, and you can evangelize it pretty easy. Raider, on the other hand, is a lot more complicated.

But to answer to your original question, it's not over, it's just on hiatus.

Good to know. You gonna be in the artists alley at Megacon again this year?

Say, is that image from the latest issue of Love and Capes?

Technically it's from the fourth issue, coincidentally a FREE COMIC BOOK DAY issue, too. Thanks for mentioning it.

Links, man! Links to your sites! People want to slurp in the splendor of LoveandCapes.com and the lessor splendor, though still slendiferous, of ThomZ.com.

Keep this up and you'll lose your hard won reputation as Mr. Networking!
