Tim Baron is a freelance Christian illustrator specializing in children’s books, science fiction, theology, comic book art, and the vividly imaginative. His work has appeared in publications by Christianity Today International, Multnomah Publishing, and Warner Press. Tim spends his days working as a mild-mannered graphic designer. At night, Tim often stays up past his bedtime pounding away at illustration projects. Tim works in a broad range of art media, including pencil, ink, paint, and digital. Tim's philosophy of art is best summarized by a statement made by the late Francis Schaeffer, who said, "The Christian is the one whose imagination should fly beyond the stars." Visit his website to see a more complete portfolio of illustrations. Visit his blog. Tim updates this every week or so with current projects and endless overly-introspective musings.

Colored Comic Images
Here's some finished images that I did the penciling, inking and coloring on. Fun stuff.

Rise and Fall of the Great City
This is three pages I did for a Victorian Era Sci-fi story called "Rise and Fall of the Great City." Probably the most detailed work I've done to date.
Made me a little loopy...

Miscellaneous Mayhem!
Here's a Schmorgasboard of images I've pulled together for this gallery. Some are colored by hand, others digitally. Enjoy!

Monster Drawings!
Here's some assorted drawings of monsters, creatures, and aliens. Enjoy!

Sola Christus
A series of images taken from the four Gospel accounts of the New Testament. I attempted to vividly and colorfully illustrate defining moments of Christ's life.

The Little Debtor
Here's a seven page silent movie/Charlie Chaplin style short written by Ben Avery. The story is told completely with images and no accompanying text.

I just had to leave another comment about your galleries. They're just SO good. I'd like to see your take on some of the Bibles weirder looking Angels and creatures. As well as some Lovecraft stuff. Just be Careful or Mike Mignola is gonna have you assasinated.:) 2 Replies [ Latest posted on April 1st, 2007 9:18 PM ]

I've said it before and I'll say it again -- Tim, you're the best comic artist not doing comics.
Great stuff.

Thanks Ben, I really am trying to do comics though! Trying to work on some short stories this year. Enjoying my kids while they're young and making these days count. Hopefully this year I'll get some stuff out.
If you ever hear of some short story opportunities with any of your Zondervan gigs that you think my work might be good for keep me in mind.
Did you guys have #4 yet? |

RE: New Tim Baron Art
I really like your new galleries! Interesting mix of J.C. and Universal Monsters. The Sola Christus stuff is beautiful (and a bit unsettling ... in a very good way!). And you take on my boy Karloff the Uncanny is top notch. Thanks for posting it. |
